keep all STSs when changing style - PA800

Hi QD,
ensure, that the "SINGLE TOUCH" - knob is in state of "LED - off",
before selecting the NEXT STYLE.
The Switch is located just beneath the "MODE" - Selectors.
"OFF" makes the LAST selected "4 STS" FREEZE ("Yamaha-Slang") !

thank TBLECK
The way you showed me just keep the last single STS that was used. I am looking for way to retain the whole set of 4 STS's when change to new style.
Regards.

Hi qd,
indeed. You're right ! Only "ONE" STS is freezed.
But try to do it in "sequence" / ONE after the other .
With SHIFT and SINGLE-TOUCH you get a shortcut to SAVE STS immediately to a Style, i think even with a chance of targeting the STS-#.
Other Way: Save the whole "old" SOURCE-Style as STYLE - PERFORMANCE. In this case - i think - all 4 STS then are saved.
Then call this performance WITH CHANGING STYLE LED being "ON".
Then put SINGLE TOUCH to off.
Select within this StylePerformance the Target Style.
I think - then the 4 STS remain ?!
OR try this: i remember a different reaction if you are handling/Selecting the STS in the DISPLAY or with the knobs.
In some cases (or was it for usage in SONGBOOK?) there was a differnent reaction depending on the "transactional flow" ... ?!
I'm in office now and can't check it out now... Maybe you have a TRY !
Best wishes

I don't think it's possible to freeze all four STS's.
Possible workarounds (next to TBleck's):
- Use the songbook to choose the settings for your songs, and program them so, that all 4 favorite STS are triggered when you select a song, OR
- Program them in performances, so that you kind of use your performances as STS's.
Maybe somebody else has other suggestions?

This subject had come up multiple times. I'm just gonna copy and paste portion of the last thread:
I said:
"I also think we should've been given a choice to keep any 4 STS without having to go through any kind of special setup.
Anyways , for now this is what Reuben had to Say in another thread:
"You can keep all the same STS's if you use the Songbook. Have your favourite STS's set up and choose your Style (with Single Touch Off) go to Songbook, Edit, New Song, copy STS's choose your tempo etc., Rename the Style (if you want) to whatever and presto everytime you choose this in Songbook all your favoutite STS's will be there (have your Single Touch on).
Hint - when you set up all your favourite Styles this way put (say) your initials as the artist then when you go into Songbook filter the book by artist then only your songs/styles will show.
This what I do and it works a treat."
later on , Miden (Dennis) said:
Simply setup the four STS's you want into your Startup performance (Bank 1, Number 1).
Then just turn off the STS button. AS far as I know the setting of this switch is not saved, so it comes on again at each boot but it's simple enough to turn it off.
That group of STS settings will then be there the entire time, no matter what else you change.

Ok, so there are several possible workarounds for this issue. But still...
Korg has so many 'Lock'-options that I find it strange the STS-lock-option is not available.
Many customers have asked for it apperently. I would certainly like to have it.
It's only a software issue, so in an OS-update it could be implemented.
I can only speak for PA500 when I say: there were no real updates in the last 3 years; not one that put a smile upon my face I mean.
And I do smile easy...

Thanks all for your input.
The set of 4 STS that I saved in Performance Bank 1, number 1 is only work when you first turn on the KORG, but when you select new style and call up this performance, it will bring up only the last single STS that was used not the whole set of 4.
I am looking for way to retain the whole set of 4 STS's when change to new style.

That's exactly what many of us requested in the past. There shouldn't be a need to use performances or song book to let all 4 STS just sit there. It should only be a matter of checking/unchecking a box in global preferences.Fransman wrote:

Maybe a pretty simple and stage friendly conept for Korg to consider?
