amazing piano on m50=voices and their matching ifx/mfx tfx

Post by rajarshi_sl »

:D
hi everybody

i have a question and a tip for all of u....first the tip

after i watched the youtube vid. wherein richard clayderman's ballade pour adaline was played on m50 i felt that the piano on m50 sounded amazingly stunning better than even ac piano itself/or motif, fantom piano for dat matter

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW0v_QC0rpk

so i figured out that such an amazing piano voice could be made wid ifx/mfx tfx

so i downloaded m3 prog called 4 way grand EX3 from aldan library, increased the release time and did the routing described below:the m3expanded sample is free of cost and has a nice collection of m3 samples not present in m50

ifx1:piano damper ifx1 may be substituted by double effect(s) containing at least 1 damper fx
ifx2:compressor = mad mix type preset
ifx3:exciter/enhancer=nice presence type preset

mfx1:stereo chorus=init set type
mfx2:reverb=init set type

crossfeed the output of each of mfx1&2 in2 input of these 2

tfx:stereo limiter=init set type

and that did the job ! hope u all,who were dissatisfied wid m50 piano patch find peace .

now the question:....

i would appreciate any suggestions from u guyz ...if u could throw some light on what matching preset ifx-mfx-tfx suit best for flute/sax/brass.bass/ac.,e.guitars ...

by d way let me tell u dat yamaha mox can autoselect inserts that match the corresponding voice u select to be played across keyboard...so this means that each individual voice type has its on taste of inserts...the manual does little to tell u the matching combinaion/routing of fx(s)

:)

It sounds nice but I can't find the mad mix preset in stereo compressor. :?
Tip for you: i suggest to add piano tailpiece in the second oscillator and in the velocity zone set the OSC2 mode to key+damper.

rajarshi_sl, totally agree with choosing prog
4 way grand EX3
For some reason it sounds much more natural even without additional processing. Will try to apply proposed FX setting
Developer of Aldan III for Korg M50, KROME.
Please find the app at :

Maybe the IFX links are not setup properly?

Or one effect is cancelling out the other perhaps.

Have you pressed the sustain pedal when you play?

hi dalen
i am an amateur and i dont have sustain paddle...i use release time knob to make a note sustain.

by the way i did manage to sound the osc2 by coppying osc 1 to osc2 and then i unchecked all boxes in osc2 except the top one for which i chose tailpiece....but it sounded as avery long sustaining note...didnt like it ...so i let the piano be as i had initially programmed....now i have even specified single osc type prog in the basic page to save polyphony coz osc2 has no extra effect/benefit over osc 1...i think for piano(acoustic), single osc per voice is more than enough that is to say more than a superior dvd quality audio since the 4 way grand as per korg, was sampled at a bitrate greater than that of standard dvd bitrate.but thank u for ur suggestion.

one last note for every one ...pls donot change mfx tfx subtypes.... just crossfeed output one of mfx to one another...let the mfx tfx be as it was when u accessed the page mfx tfx ...or else the quality of piano will deteriorate drastically.

and hey folks pls put in ur views as to what ifx(s)/mfx/tfx chain would match bass, flute, pad etc
