Global Dump and Korg Trinity V3 isssues

If I send a Global Dump to the Trinity V3 the Moss board does not read the scale page from the Global menu. However, if I enter the scale tuning manually then it will work. The issue only with the Moss board...

Anyone can help? Or it is a bug..???!!

Not absolutely sure, but this may be cause.

If by "global dump" you mean that you are uploading a .PCG file into your Trinity, you may have only a partial PCG that either doesn't include the MOSS linked Global (scales) file, or which includes a "factory" global overwrite.

Either of these could effect the MOSS

My Trin is A-B-C-D-MOSS. If I upload a PCG that came from a non-MOSS board's PCG save then I could see where the loaded banks would reference the (new) Global data, but the MOSS would not because the link to the old Global file was overwritten by the new.

Going in and checking "oh, yeah, Moss too" in the Global menu on your machine restores the link, as you've found.

Solution: In saving a .PCG file (for your future use) you have a number of options about how deeply you want to save; i.e., prog banks only, combi, song, global, etc. If you do a full and complete save of that fixed global link and the MOSS bank is included in the PCG, that might get you a clean in and out.

In uploading PCG files, make sure you un-check the "load Global Files" box - that way your old global settings (and links to MOSS) won't get overwritten by new data.

Finally, if you are wanting to load in parts of the global menu (such as Arabic micro-tuned user scales) you could be able to access individual user scales and drumkits the same way that you can individual programs or combis from their respective files.

[SAVE MOSS (and links) is not an option unless the MOSS board is installed so many (most) PCG files include no MOSS data - by the same token you can save MOSS bank only, which non-MOSS installed Trinity would tell you is a non-compatible file even though it came from a Trinity.]

The issue has to do with System Exclusive Global Dump.


Step 1. Send Global Dump via Sysex to Midi Ox
Step 2. Midi Ox received the Dump successfully
Step 3. Send the same file xxx.syx to the Korg Trinity V3
Step 4. The Korg Trinity V3 received the Global Dump successfully

What is strange is that all the sounds of the Korg Trinity V3 were able to read the Scale Page from the Global screen except the Moss V3.

The solution is to enter the Scale data manually then it will work.

Is it a bug in the Moss V3 board? Or there is a byte that needs to be modified in the system exclusive file so the Moss V3 can read the scale page?

I don't have much experience with sysex - almost all my trinity file utilization has been through PCGs (which behave pretty much as described). The problems with whether or not MOSS is part of the overall file are derived from my PCG experience.

You might want to consider getting a copy of a decent librarian like Trinitro (free/shareware *** edit: Trinitro is posted here at top of the Trinity Forum page as a sticky post ***), that way you can organize and document voices and save and manipulate the Global Menu data in a format that Trinity actually likes.

Once you get that data the way you want it you can set it up as sort of a master template, then use it whenever you save - i.e., once you've set it up you can use 'My Master' PCG as your standard destination file, and as you fill it with progs/combis, you will automatically have all of your custom User Scales, multiple User Drum Kits, Controller preferences and even Master Tuning if the band you play with tunes the guitars down to Eb -- and the PCG will include A-B-C-D+MOSS banks as a standard template.
