Pumpkin King - Aquatic Ambience - July 11

Post by Pumpkin King »

Another piano cover for this month. This one is Aquatic Ambience from Donkey Kong Country, composed by David Wise. I had an earlier piece, Depths of the Ocean, that was partly inspired by this song...but I also decided to do a piano cover for it for this month. It was another entry for Dwelling of the Duels, too, where others also submit entries of video game covers (mostly metal covers). It took me a couple of weeks to arrange it and perform it correctly, but I got it done and was happy with it.

Anyways, enjoy!

EXCELLENT cover, really enjoyed the improvisations too. Never realized what a complex piece it is really, just enjoyed listening to it as a kid.

Great job at hitting the harmonies, you never fell out of time either. Did you have to record multiple takes?

Well done!

I actually just posted this on my FB feed haha

Thanks man. And yes, I did have to do multiple takes. It took me a few weeks to get it done right. From arranging it properly, finding the right sound, trying not to mess up due to dumb keyboard related errors, haha. Sometimes the keys wouldn't register when they should've, etc., annoying things like that.

Well thanks again, I appreciate it! :)

I think this is fantastic, I especially enjoyed watching you play it, you have such great dynamics and are evoking such strong feelings. The recording is quite nice as well, the piano sounds very clear and crisp. You must practice your playing quite a lot by the looks of this. Quite impressed and I!!

Thanks george. Yeah, I mean... I'm always playing around on the keys every once in awhile and learning new things as I go. As far as this song, I've practiced it quite a bit, as I said before. And I am pretty happy with how it paid off.

Thanks again!

Beautiful. I love it. I like your expression, the sound, composition, I think I like it all. The fact that you performed it live makes it even more impressive. Good idea to post the video on youtube. It makes the whole experience much more personal.

Thank you sewa, I appreciate it :)

Yes, I'm trying to start uploading more videos to youtube. I think it's cooler to actually see the performance.

This next month, I'll probably do another cover. Maybe post it to youtube, and after that I will probably work on some of my unfinished songs on my Triton Extreme. It's been awhile since I completed anything on that keyboard.

Thanks John. :)

It's kinda crazy to think about how far I've gotten playing the piano. Listening to some of my earlier recordings like 4-5 years ago, and then listening to this... I play so much better right now. All since I've always been messing around on the keys, any chance I've gotten. I don't plan on stopping.
