Keeping the M3 with the K61

After several weeks just exploring the K I finally hooked up the M3M and was immediately blown away by the various combinations of combinations. MIDI connected to and from each other.

The M3M pads immediately control the K if required. And vice versa. So good to have actual pads.

The K ribbon, JS and the knobs all seem to control the M3M. Might not be news to some but to me it was most interesting to hear.

When changing patches they 'match' up for having similar qualities, like Motion synths etc

Of course that could all be bypassed and you can select one without changing the other by changing the Global settings for midi.

I recommend you keep your M3M if you have one. I have the Radias card as well as the RAM expansion so no point selling it anyway.

I haven't sold my M3M yet, but I think it is going to the bay this weekend. Despite the power of AL-1 and the other synths on my Kronos, I still like the Radias board quite a bit and will miss it. However when I feel like sitting down and experimenting with building a new sound, which is one of my favorite things to do, I go to the Kronos every time.

Among my other gear lust wanderings, I keep looking at Radias modules. I really have no need, but I still like it.

the times that I've heavily considered buying the Kronos... I was SURE that I was going to keep my M3m. It's the most versatile sound module available. Plus it looks cool. I never take it anywhere and not hear the following question. "WHAT'S THAT???"

No I wouldn't keep it just for pads, but when you factor in it's capabilities... it's just a very very valuable piece (even beside the Kronos)....

Plus for me, the Kronos was going to remain stationary (in the home studio) for the most part (with my other rack modules). The M3m was the only thing that was going on the road (on a consistent basis) well, and a controller keyboard.

I will never sell my M3/M...anyone knows if i can sell the Keys ONLY?

I sold my m3-88 keys ONLY and ending up walking away with about $800 after paypal fees (and the buyer paid for shipping)

I've seen the 88 key keybeds selling for less.

61 key keybeds for around $300-$350.

which keybed do you have?

I've been debating selling my M3-73 and buying a 61 key keybed for my RADIAS.

I just pulled the module out of my M3-73 the other day. Not sure what I'm going to do:

1. Keep the whole thing.
2. Keep the module and sell the keybed.
3. Sell the whole thing.

My M361 has been out of the studio since I got the K. The OP sort of inspires me to bring the module in and hook it up. I know money is factor for some people here in making such decisions, and I don't mean to be insensitive to that....but I have sold so many pieces in the past....and I almost always regret selling at some point in time...and the money I get by selling second hand is not so great anyways. I think I'm keeping the M3.

I sold my m3m for $1150 in April.

I am sort of the opposite of you, a minimalist and I don't get attached. I have never regretted selling anything .

If my gear Is underutilized due to superior gear, I sell the older model.
