Using multiple midi tracks in the radias
Hello Guys,
I use the korg Radias a lot but i have a big issue with it. I Have this issue with all my synths and i just don't understand it.
How can i set for example strings on midi channel 1, a bass sound on midi channel 2, a leadsound on midi channel 3, and so on. I work all the time with the sound editor (plugin version) and when i set the 4 timbres of a patch to midi channel 1 and i rout in my daw a midi track to the radias midi channel 1, then that sound plays. But my big issue is that i also want to use another sound on midi channel 2. Is this possible anyway?
Thanks for reading and you reply!
Kevin

Yes, you can do that.
You have to set a separate Midi channel for each timbre within your program.
To do this.
Press EDIT
Select the timbre you want
Press TIMBRE (button 3)
Scroll across to Midi with the page + button
Change GLB to whatever channel you want.
Is there really a plug-in version of the sound editor?

I'd like to know where this came from. AFAIK there has never been a plugin version.
And yeah, I use this method all the time for multitimbral processing. At one point I was thinking about getting a 2nd Radias and ditching the workstation synths.

I'm sorry guys but i dont get it done right.
First of all: You can download the Sound editor at: http://www.korg.com/SupportResults.aspx?productid=262
I was wrong, it isn't realy a VST plugin editor but a standalone tool that you can use parallel with your DAW. In this list you'll also find some other soundbanks. The RADIAS_ArtsitPrograms_V2 is one of my favourites
I know that i can give each timbre a seperate midi channel. But that was not what i meant.
For example: if i work with the factory presets, and i want to use the sound A01 - Harness Power (wich excists of 4 timbres), and i want to route this sound to midi channel 1.
Then i want to use another sound, for example A02 - Warping Beat (wich also excist of 3 timbres), and rout this sound to midi channel 2.
Let me say that i want to play 16 different factorypresets at the same time and route them to 16 midi channels. How can i do that?
I'm sorry dudes that maybe my post is a bit confusing but i don't know how i should explain it in another way.
Thanks for helping!

You can't do that.
The four timbres of a program represents the physical limitations of the processing power of the hardware in the architecture that Korg has implemented it.
You can only have one program at a time. That program could have four different timbres on four different MIDI channels (for example you could have drums, bass, arp, and pad. Or drums and then a massive three timbre pad). But that's the maximum.
You can also scroll through the timbres from other programs and copy them into your program. You're still limited to four timbres though.

Yeah, that's what I do too for recording projects.
I tend to keep a copy of the MIDI track muted so that I can go back and change the sound or notes if I want to, but always record audio alongside it too.

For clarify for anyone. The "guide" above let you to give each timbre an individual MIDI channel.

Theres never been an official one, just the one I made for Cubase. Korg would have to reinvent the GUI of the editor with tabs instead of floating windows which, to be fair, wouldn't be that hard, but would ultimately cost the company resources for a product that's essentially discontinued.X-Trade wrote: I'd like to know where this came from. Whatever flagship synth Korg comes out with next will definitely have a plug-in editor though, as well as an integrated audio interface as that is the state of the industry at this point. Crossing my fingers for the AL-1 or MOD7 engines to come out in hardware, or maybe just released as separate plug-ins.
