Well, as a "danmoïst" I've never been able to hit the sample button while playing, even setting the input level by myself is difficult, because I play in front of the microphone.
Solution from live looping in this case like many others is a RC 50.
Thinking about this drove me to the idea of a remote controllable looper, as a machine, or a machine able to accept different kinds of physical controllers for the purpose of live sampling.
Unfortunately, The RC50 midi sync capability is mortally flawed and will never work for you this way. I own one. Nice looper for real time performance. But a total mess with midi sync. Seeking the right looper for synced play is challenging. And the very reason I began this thread.
I hope polyoptics will see this old thread coming back... his advice about the EHX 2880 was exactly what I was looking for. One question though about this:
polyoptics wrote:<snip>If you do get one, get the foot controller, it makes recording easy, not just because you can use your foot, but because sometimes the 2880 only wants to record (in midi mode) when it gets a start message (not hard to get around) but for whatever reason, it will always record when you use the foot controller, no matter what.
I've seen advice elsewhere criticizing the EHX foot pedal for having especially-noisy foot switches, and not being ruggedly painted so control labels rub off quickly.
Advice there was to buy a Behringer or Roland MIDI pedal instead, which made me think the EHX 2880's pedal was a MIDI pedal. Is it connected to the 2880 via MIDI, or another way, to give the reliable starts that polyoptics reports?
The switches are kinda loud, but nothing more than any EHX pedal switch. The Paint seems fine, and again, standard EHX materials and finish.
The pedal connects to the 2880 via a single standard 1/4" patch cable...not midi.
In my own use, the pedal works fine, and is accurate.....but i rarely use it....I tend to use the front panel buttons on the 2880 more often. However....I am not using it with a guitar....mostly synths and keyboards....so getting a hand free for a moment is pretty easy. YMMV
Hi Guys, Cool thread, i would like to ask a quick question regarding both the KP3 or EHX2880, if your looping live and you decide to change track without stopping can you fade out the samples which are looping and erase them on the fly so that you can use the banks again for a new performance????
