Post by Rosen Sound »

My metronome, and other tracks, are being recorded along with my kronos...

if anyone can help me fix this, it would be appreciated.

im am using kronos in AND out.

would you be able to explain in a bit more depth what the issue is?

On the surface, it sounds like a midi-clock and karma/kitchen sink function - where everything is being sent to the MIDI out.

Also check your soft-thru on Logic. What channels is being recorded?

There was something in the global pages (of Kronos) about what get outputted on a particular channel.....

okay
i have my kronos global audio with usb 1&2 set to L/R

logic is using my kronos as input and output device.

say i have 3 tracks
1. guitar
2. bass
3. drums

if i make a new track, track 4, and set it to my kronos (so i can use the kronos internal sounds)

logic will record the metronome (not the kronos one.. note input it turned off in logic) and the three other tracks into track four. because its recording what my kronos is outputing into my monitors....

this didnt use to happen, and its realy putting a halt on my recording... any help is appreciated.

I'm assuming we're talking audio tracks here, not MIDI.

It's Logic's recording it's output.

You've got to set the output of Kronos (the track you want to record) to a different input to Logic - eg USB 1&2 are the "main mix", and your recording track is set to USB 3&4 (don't know for certain, as I'm at work, not by my Kronos)....

Does this make sense?

It sounds as though the Kronos is recording all audio coming into its USB 1/2 and also it sounds like Logic is sending all audio- including the metronome- through to the Kronos. Do you have a way to send the metronome strictly through the internal speakers or line out of your Logic machine? You may need an aggregate audio device set up on your Logic machine (Audio MIDI Setup in the Utilities folder: Command+Shift+U is the keyboard shortcut to get to that folder).
This is just a guess based on what you've explained and my own experience with the Kronos and Logic.

Let us know how it works and if this answered your question.

Cheers!

also, might i say, this didnt start until i loaded up a midi file off guitar pro

I can't help much not having a KRONOS but there are lots of internal routing options in global mode I think.

You shouldn't need an aggregate audio device set up on your mac unless you're using two sound cards for something. And you state you had it working before.

Logic does have an option to send out a MIDI click track, so make sure it's not triggering programs on the KRONOS to play its click

Another thought is that if you have your KRONOS engaged in record mode via MIDI somehow when you do the same in Logic, then you may be playing the KRONOS internal click - assuming you're working in sequencer mode.

If you're just working with audio tracks and no MIDI, you shouldn't have to put up with be recording the output back into the input like that, makes pretty much anything involving more than one track impossible, so it really does sound like a global audio routing problem to me.

Sounds to me like you have Kronos setup to record in Logic, but you are recording all sounds of your computer also.
There must be a setting that you missed somewhere in your Audio/Midi setup or in System Preferences/Sound in OSX?

I'll be honest with you and say that I don't use the Kronos for the Audio interface, but I have spent the last few hours with it (and Logic 9.1.5), and I also can't get to grips with it... Just using Logic and headphones on the Kronos, It seems that there is definitely no way to monitor the audio out from Logic, and play a new part on the Kronos without Logic re-recording everything.

I had a thought that the GLOBAL>AUDIO page would maybe enable me to re-route the incoming audio, so it's not routed to the main output, but still be able to monitor it on the headphone output... I've tried everything I could think of, but it's a no go.

So, while it was interesting as an experiment, I'd rather stick to my standard workflow Keyboards>USB Mixer>Mac... No problems.

Also, I found the USB Audio out from the Kronos was VERY low!

I *will* have a look, but I just haven't had time to do it (with gigging and work).

Will see if I can look at it tonight.

I use Logic with the Oasys.
I only use the O to Input to Logic.
From Logic then I go to my Monitors and main Amps.

Just curious why u are running Logic output back to the Kronos and then to your amps?
