padKontrol - how to reduce knob cc range - instead 0 ->

Post by djskope »

hallo all,

has anybody got any ideas of how to how to reduce either knobs CC range - instead of plain old 0 -> 127

i want a knob to send, say, 32->96 instead of 0->127

there doesnt seem to be an option for this in the librarian editor.

i think it would be really useful because when activating filter cutoff you usually get a 'sweet spot' so its good to sweep your CCs around this particular, smaller, range.

if this useful function is not built in i do have bomes midi translator and i've also tried cubase logical editor but i can't seem to work out a formula to remap these?

many thanks in advance for any advice..

Half solved - Midi-Ox external app

Post by djskope »

Hi, I think I have this 99% solved - I say 99% because I don't think there is a way around this in the hardwares O.S., so I used the excellent (and free) 3rd party app, Midi-Ox.

By creating a custom, but very simple Midiox Data/Translation Map I was able to restrict the knobs output between any 2 min/max values i.e. 40 and 110. It also looked like it 'scaled' smoothly! I then piped the CC's through Mike Yoke (virtual midi cable), then into the instrument channel in Cubase.

I'm new to Korg - do they ever issue firmware updates? There a couple of simple, but useful things I would really like to change in it's O.S.
