Another newbie question.
I want to play a chord on the pads (using a layered pad sound), and I'd like the chord to sustain until I press a different pad so that I can play a melody on another sound split higher up the keyboard and free up my left hand to tweak on the fly.
Can I program the pads to do this? Right now, I've just been using the damper pedal to hold the chords and programming the upper sound to not respond to the pedal. It's still a little unwieldy.
Sorry to ask a question that's probably in the manual. I just don't know where to start with it ... or how to index the question.
(By the way ... hopefully the newbie questions will end soon. I just signed on for Karma Lab's tutorial videos for 3 months. In a perfect world, I'll get through all or most of the vids and be up and running.)
Thanks in advance for help!

Using the pads for sustained chords
Serve the song, not yourself.
Indeed you can achieve this with karma, but i didn't understand why "it's not what he wants". it's exactly what he is asking for i believe, hold a chord with the pads and play another sound on the keys with full control and freedom of his hands.
I don't have the korg next to me in order for me to give you the exact karma GE that i've used, but you can check this (old?) karma labs article about holding chords
http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/korg-karma ... tain-notes
the problem here is that the bender GE is not available in my M3, probably the article is about an older version of karma. i just looked for a "bender" ge in my m3 and found something that actually held the note, also note that the name starts with something else ( and specified the ge to just hold, not bend) and it works like a charm with the latch button on. i use it a lot when using pads for instance and playing piano.
read the article. and ill make sure to get back to you once im near my M3

Yeah, if you program in the chords in a specific scaleHugo wrote:Can the pads be configured to play chords in a specific scale?

Yes, if you find a GE that simply sustains the input chord, then it will work the way he wants. Of the 2K+ GEs, I suspect over 2K of them do no behave this way; they play something far more elaborate in response to the input chord. Hence it didn't really seem like what the OP wanted._joe_ wrote:Indeed you can achieve this with karma, but i didn't understand why "it's not what he wants". it's exactly what he is asking for i believe, hold a chord with the pads and play another sound on the keys with full control and freedom of his hands.
