Patch requests

Patch requests are getting out of hand. The first page of this sub-forum is dominated by them, mostly from one user.

When I first came here, a request for a patch was responded to by directing me towards the necessary resources to learn how to patch by myself.

What happened to this atmosphere? Is patch-request spamming to be allowed?

I see nothing wrong with patch requests here. Is this not the korg radias/r3 forum?

I see nothing wrong with patch requests either, but if a single user wants to keep making multiple requests, common courtesy says they could easily keep their requests bumped within a single thread. Makes the forum posts easier to navigate through for info.

Same here. It even prompted me to create a full patch list of "INIT PATCH" just as a joke that only few understood. I do agree there should be a single thread with just a bump when a new patch is requested. Besides I still believe that it should be attempted by the requester before asking.

I agree, and Morshu has posted some of his attempts before. What would be even nicer is a sample of the sound as I'm not going to bother with copying parameters between editors for what may be a dud. Might as well take the time to recreate the patch if I were going down that road. Hopefully he got a proper sound card by now...
If I could hear the attempt maybe I could give some suggestions. If it were aaalmost there then I'd be motivated to tediously copy and fine tune what I could to the best of ability.

i probably will run out of sounds- i'm only focusing on particular types that i have attempted- and i dont have a good sound card yet... however, if its deemed necessary i will record a sample with microphone.

and I tought RPC was irritating

I also have no problem if someone is interested to learn and I see he is trying to get that specific sound (tpantano knows).
What I can not imagine is being attracted every day by a new sound. And even if he got the Sound Hunting Syndrome, bumping the same message is the best advice he could take.

You so called patch experts do come across as supercilious! There are many newbies here that haven't quite grasped the fundamentals of synthesis. You are correct in stating play with the editor, but beginners need a bit more help. I downloaded a kindle book "How to create a noise : iPad Synthesizers Edition" By Simon Cann it helped a lot. Even if you do not have an iPad. (I do) I am learning slowly and have managed to create some wonderful sounds on my Korg R3

I'm saying that rather than create patches for the user, we should recommend them resources, such as that book.

The point I'm trying to make is that knowledge shared is good for everyone. If you take time out to show how the patch requested could be created entirely, you are educating everyone!

Sure Nigel, feel free to start "educating everyone" with the tricks you learned in that fancy book of yours. Maybe you can teach us how to use the "Korg Radias R3" too.

I usually don't flame but calling the community "so called patch experts" is ridiculous when you haven't brought anything to the table. Remind me again when you last helped create a patch or even shared a preset. Then you throw out a five syllable word like a white knight, c'mon man.

The book I mentioned isn’t fancy! It’s just a resource. It’s a shame that the superior peeps here didn’t take time out to write there own books. After all you are the experts here. I’m a newbie, but I’m learning about the superior peeps here
