A VERY SIMPLE QUESTION HOW TO MUTE MELODY TRACK ON A MIDI

Post by keyboardmadness »

Hi my friends,
I've recently rebought (afetr 5 years, please don't think I'm crazy) a Pa1xpro.

I remember that there was a way to mute the melody track on a midifile pressing on the fly a single button, the problem is that I' don't remember which button it was... :( :( :(

Anyone can help?? Thanks!! :D

You can Assign it to one of your Assignable Switches (Songplay Menu, Pad Assign Switch, Switch, choose Song Melody Mute).
Be aware however that this will only work if the melody is in the default track 4. (Many midis put the melody in other tracks).
Another way to mute it is to simply slide the correct slider down assuming the correct Trk. Sel. screen is showing.
Best,
John

Can you reassign the 'melody track' to another track using SONG PLAY > MENU > PREFERENCES > TRACK SETTING like you can on the PA500?

I just set up my PA500 to mute the melody track on track 1 with the assignable switch. Thanks for the info!!

Yes you can assign it to mute any track you designate as the melody track, as you have suggested, but most midis do put the melody in track 4. As long as your midis are consistent it wouldn't be a problem. You also could use the copy function in Sequencer Mode to put all your melodies in a certain track.
The old reliable Pa1x still amazes me with its depth of functions - I'm still finding out things myself after more than 5 years with this machine!

Thanks Reuben, actually I discovered this way to assign functions to assignable switch yesterday evening and I noted that you may assign also song melody mute.

Thanks for your help!

That's right Keysman, I like mostly her "drums & bass" groove, is far ahead from other keyboards.....
