Case for Kronos 73

Hi all,

First post. I hope someone can shed some light.
The K73 is a great size for gigs. But I can't find a robust case.

I'm replacing a Motif classic 76. It's in a SKB ATA.
Everything I've found ends up in 88 key size cases because of depth.

Is custom build the only thing there is? At 40-50+ pounds?

I cart my stuff myself but a canvas thing just won't do.
They always end up in shreds.
I'm afraid to take it out.

Help!!

Looks great for all but the K73.
Am I stuck ordering a custom ATA $$$$ flyweight case because nobody
makes one for this keyboard?

You don't need a custom case.

I see the other thread about a fly case.

The issue still is how do I transport a K73 without "spending"
45-75 pounds +/ or wasted pack space.

I used to lug a suitcase 73 back in the day. Minus the amp/speakers,
The tour cases with keyboard inside are close to the same weight!!!

I see there was a Korg branded specific nylon/poly case.
What happened to that?

This is true, although my roadies aren't exactly gentle with the stuff. I added some extra padding with the extra space in the "D" model. It is a fine line between putting too much padding where you are constantly putting pressure on the keybed, and not putting enough so it can move around too much.

Again, the one I linked has worked out very well for me thus far.

Thanks all for the tips on other threads.

Well after looking high and low, the Gator GKPE-76D TSA is about it.

There is no Cat 1 ATA rated poly Plastic case yet.
I even looked at Pelican, Hardig and others.

The SKB roto style is not Cat 1 rated and it is not splash resistant at all.
They do make a Roto Cat 1 in 61 and 88 lengths.

It's often raining on load in/load out in winters here so any case has to have
some kind of seal and the Gator comes close.

When SKB makes a proper ATA rated case with a seal for this size I"ll get one.
Hopefully next year.

Until then, I'll get some kind of soft waterproof something or other to wrap it in.

Hooch! I work for a company here in Canada called Clydesdale Custom Cases. I built my own ATA case with wheels. I feel my 73 Kronos is perfectly safe. I'm up in Toronto so it;s kind of far but if you want to contact Phil Dewhurst, phil@clydesdalecases.com he can give you a quote. I'd expect it will cost a lot though, plus shipping. I hate to turn business away but you probably have custom case companies in your area.
