Korg R3 intermitant crackle

Post by markustg »

:x

I have been looking at posts on this forum regarding other crackle/popping issues with the R3 and I am trying to figure out if I need a service call (out of warrenty).

My R3 serial number is 5439 so I think my unit may be subject to the "tempo" bug I have seen on the forum as I understand it serial numbers under 6500 or so are suspect but i am not sure.

In short, when I play sounds that have movement/aprreg etc. once i a while I get a crackle/popping sound. It's like the sound you would get when you plug or unplug a guitar from an amp and it drives me nuts.

I also have a bodged together power supply that is not original so I am wondering if that is the issue, which is why i posted a request on which on to get.

When I hold all cables still (includeing the power supply cable) the issue still occurs, so I just don't know what else to check.

Any advice would help.

Thanks!

Mine has the tempo problem but only "crackles/pops" when a delay is turned on. It is no problem for me as long as the tempo knob has not been turned. If the original tempo has not been messed with, there is no crackle/pop sound. But that is natural with just about any delay changing real-time tempo. That is why there is that sound.

If that is not the sound you are referring to than I would have it checked out.

I had the same issue with my first low serial # R3. I ended up returning it for another. I know it doesnt help but I know exactly what you are talking about. Best bet is to call Korg and see what they say.
