Actually a nice idea is if you're an Oasys user that has earned the credit:

1) You buy the sound libraries with your credit.
2) Sell the libraries with 20% reduction to some stoopid Kronos user.
3) The stoopid Kronos user gets cheaper sounds and you get cash from the Kronos user.

3) Viola, you have actual MONEY, instead of 'credit in your email' :)

I disagree. From my perspective, Korg is providing an offer that does not cost them real money, only potential revenue.

Potentially, one could sell their OASYS and pay for most (if not all) of a Kronos without going into their pocket. Then you have the new pianos, ambient drums, etc. and could apply this credit to 3, 4 or 5 libraries and be set for a while. Now, that all the libraries (including KARO's) will be streaming, this can be a rather huge incentive - especially with the RAM upgrade to 3.2 gigs.

OASYS maxes out at 2 gigs of RAM and can't stream, so it maxes out with EXs 1,2 and 3 loaded (whereas Kronos can access many times that). Nor can OASYS record at 24 bit.

I have no plans on dumping my OASYS, but I think it's a nice gesture to those who spent money for expansions.

Well i like it! Thanks Korg I bought a couple of kronos with the intension of selling my loaded O76 but now i may just keep it. I now consider the kronos to be a expansion to to the oasys for less than 3 grand it is a good deal considering the extra keybed and and future editor and now 750 for new soundsets this is killer :D

I didn't receive any emails about this offer. Is this a US-only offer or worldwide? I still have my fully expanded O88.

Yes, is world-wide.

Are you registered with www.korguser.net? I guess that's what Korg has used as the basis for the mailing.

Hey cello,

Course I'm registered :) But I didn't receive any emails from KORG about this. Can someone please elaborate what's this offer all about?

Of course Veddy:) this is the Email i had (and everyone else presumably)

Dear Tony,

Thank you very much for having purchased our OASYS Synthesizer. We hope that it continues to delight and amaze, and that you enjoy using it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

As you may know, we recently released our new KRONOS Music Workstation. KRONOS is packed with Korg’s latest technology, including nine fantastic sound engines - some of which will be familiar to OASYS users, while others are completely new. We're now preparing our first optional KRONOS Sound Libraries, which will be available soon at the KRONOS online store.

As a thank-you to loyal OASYS customers who have also purchased the KRONOS, we're pleased to offer the enclosed credits towards the purchase of any Korg-produced KRONOS Sound Libraries. All registered OASYS owners will receive a $100 credit. If you've purchased OASYS software options, you'll receive additional credits as detailed below:

LAC-1: $250
MOD-7: $250
EXs3: $150

Credits are cumulative; for instance, if you're an OASYS owner who's purchased all of the software options, you'll receive a total of $750 in credits ($100 + $250 + $250 + $150 = $750).

According to our records, your personal credits total:
$750

Note that these credits may be used to purchase Korg-produced KRONOS Sound Libraries only; products from third parties are not eligible. Only actual purchases of OASYS software options qualify for credits; options registered for free do not qualify. All credits will expire on March 31, 2012.

To redeem your personal credits, enter the following code during checkout in the online KRONOS shop, at https://www.korg.com/kronos/SoundLibraries
.

There are a lot of well thought out posts here. I do understand both sides.
All in all, I am good with the fact that Korg is offering a credit towards some of the new software. Should they extend the offer period...I think so. However, I appreciate the gesture and am planning to use the credits. Wow, do I wish that I could get some of the Karo software with the dollars...yes.
In this "cold cruel world" there have to be limitations where economics are concerned. You guys are great contemporaries and I enjoy reading your insights(bitter or not). :)

Hm, that's cool of them. Now if I could only get myself out of this "I don't give a f**k" mood I've been in for the past year or so... Maybe then this offer would be worth something for me. If they included that as a rebate for Kronos (preferrably Rack, imaginary product that would maybe make sense for me) then maybe, just maybe, I could start caring again.

Sorry for my rage, still can't say it any other way.

>But if you brought a KRONOS, it wouldbe (in effect) $750 cheaper - IF you >spent All your $750 credit on the sound libraries

>750.00 USD=475.499 GBP
>750.00 USD=731.976 AUD
>750.00 USD=544.758 EUR
>750.00 USD=763.773 CAD

With the Kronos61 at $2999 in the US and £2599 in the UK the $750 should be worth £649.50 but my bet is the reverse will be true at it will only be worth £411.83, such is life.
