Help wanted !!

Post by Keymangerbo »

A question to you all , does anyone knows where you can read
or see more over advanced programming of the Mod 7 , Al1, Str-1 etc
to get the most out of the Kronos ?

And another problem when I connect a USB HD or CD rom to the
Kronos The display says disconnect the USB devices and power off
and on again ?

What did go wrong ?

For MOD7 a lot can be found (Yamaha DX series documentation), except of course the waveshaping possibilities.

For the other two you probably have to look for Korg Oasys videos on youtube for example.

check the Kronos parameter manual, there is a lot of information in there and there are guided tours for programming.

for instance the : Synthesis with the MOD-7: a guided tour which you can find on page 349

I agree that if you're really into the advanced programming of these engines you should have a good read through the parameter guide. Also, I've found the Help button on the Kronos to be extremely...um...helpful! :P
Seriously, though, the Help button is context driven so it jumps to what you're looking at first and it not only explains the parameters technically but also has a few "tutorial"-like pages to get you going (I found a great one explaining setting up MS-20EX external audio and never once had to RTM- it was all in the Help button!).

You may need to connect your external power to the drive first and let it sit for about a minute before connecting USB. I've had this issue with some of my external devices for my computer and after reading through a manual (a big no-no, I know) I discovered that I wasn't waiting long enough for the device to do its own power-on-self-test before connecting USB. Give it a try and see if it helps.

Good luck and happy tweaking!

Hi Cynkh ,

I did what you wrote but it did not work
The kronos still starts up again and I have to disconnect
the USB and restart the Kronos

Maybe it works with the next update ...

Perhaps the answer is simply to fully boot the Kronos as step 1, connect power to the USB device as step 2 then wait about 1 minute and connect the USB cable. There may be some sort of USB scanning taking place during boot-up which is causing the crash.

Best of luck with the USB! Cheers!

I had a couple of problems with external drives. I found that if you switch to disk mode before plugging in, it worked every time. Hope this helps.

I would tend to blame the HDD or CD-ROM drive before the Kronos, but that's just me and my experience. Out of curiosity: what are the actual device manufacturers and product names of the USB devices you're using?

Hi Cynkh,

I think you are right , I use an usb self-made kit from kónig with lite-on
CD\RW and a normal HD and they worked well with the M3.

Maybe they are to old now !!

Question to you and all the members how are reading this?

What brand and type of Usb Cd \RW and USB HD are you using what
works very well with the Kronos

No problem!

I'm using a Kingston 8GB USB thumb drive (actually a Kingston MicroSD-USB adapter with a Kingston 8GB MicroSD card currently inserted- it's fast as [bleep]!) I also have a SanDisk 16GB and 4GB USB thumb drive that I've just had forever.
They all work awesome as long as you keep your stuff organized!! Gigabytes of stuff gets really ugly really quickly when just dumping onto a disk indiscriminately!!
Never used a USB CD-ROM drive but I do have an enclosure and an IDE DVD+/-RW I could try out.

Cheers!
