I'm going to suffer the wrath or ill-judgment but I'd like to come to Sina's defence. I actually believe him because, though I'm not as apparently wealthy as Sina (I'm an ordinary college lecturer and composer) - I too maintain two music rooms with a historical legacy of instruments (and which to this day are not yet complete as the set up I want because it's very complex), but where I run:

3 CS80 s
2 CS70M s
2 CS40M s
2 ProphetT8 s
2 OASYS’s
7 JD800 s
2 SY99 s
4 SY77 s
2 EX5 s
2 TG77 s
3 VP330 s
2 Juno106 s

among many other instruments such as Prophet 10, DX1, Eminent310, Jupiter6, VL1, V-SynthGT and many others.

There is a very clear path to my apparent madness (to me !!!) - which also includes masses of plugins and sample libraries as well as IRCAM softwares. The ultimate aim is to merge hardware synthesizers with soft synths, plugins, orchestral composing and computing techniques like spatializaton (aka IRCAM and FLUX SPAT).

But of course it's grown into a mammoth task and between doing actual composing and earning a living otherwise, it's taking years longer to set up that I imagined originally (I need a sys admin badly !!!). And believe you me – I do not maintain a ‘museum’ – I’m use these instruments relentlessly on many, many compositions.

So I could believe Sina owning a huge number of synths - nut cases like us are out there :-) (though I admit the combined total of Sina's arsenal is significantly larger than even the 70 or so hardware synths across my two room facility).

Apart from this - I thoroughly enjoy Sina's passion for synths and for taking a singular stance on many occasions - and almost never offensively!! What an optimistic and passionate bloke.

I regularly do not agree with Sina - but I think he's a great member of korgforums.

I suppose so... but one thing that's really funny about the internet is how much stuff sticks around - especially when you use the same username everywhere (a quick google of "sina172" finds lots of forum memberships)

This doesn't particularly sound like a guy with 15 Oasys's, 200 Tritons, 75 Motifs, 10 Kronos', and whatever else he has told everyone he has. It sounds like a guy with one board with not enough sense to back anything up.

Also, the serial number he uses as his stolen one is the same one in his signature on this forum. I guess he paid out that $25k ransom to some lucky soul.

That was my main point. Again, don't want to rehatch the JP80 vs Kronos.

Although I do agree with the rest of your post that I shortened. Both awesome instruments.

If you added another "0" to each of the numbers listed for the gear, then you would be reaching what Sina has claimed.

This isn't "I have have 2 Tritons, 3 Motifs, etc..."

This is: I have FIFTY (50) Tritons

I forget the actual numbers he has been quoted, and I'm not saying I 100% don't believe him - but I do 99% not believe him until I see a picture with him holding up a sign with the date on it.

You may be incorrect on this one. Just because Yamaha doesn't make those great synthesizers, doesn't mean those guys left. Yes, they may have chosen not to pursue the VL1 any more, but I know some of the guys are still there and creating new stuff. I am very sad that they stopped the VL series and the breath control items.

Hopefully they will make another great synthesizer.

Poly-phonie

V-Synth 24 voices
V-SynthXT 24 voices
V-SynthGT 28 voices

I don't understand the argument.

I'd like to see a "WORK"station with mutliple midi connections 8 in & 8 out, with routing, with an upgrade Fantom g sequencer.

That would be a workstation to rule them all.

As the originator of this thread I feel I have a certain right to comment on the 'is Sina a fantasist or a keyboard fanatic?' debate.

The point is that this thread has thrown up some really interesting and wide-ranging discussions on a number of things that are of genuine interest to people who love music and the electonic instruments used to make that music. Surely the Sina debate is a rather silly distraction.

I for one will take a charitable view and state my belief that Sina may simply have a problem with counting. Many of us musicians were never very good at maths. Can we leave it at that folks!

@kevin
One slight difference between how much you own and what Sina owns...we can see photographic evidence of what you have via your links.
People in here myself included would love to see this Aladdins cave of a studio he claims if he has half of what he makes out I'd love to see it,no-one wants to do the guy over just as gearslutz would love to see it.I like many others have posted pics of ours,it seems he digs himself a bigger and bigger hole everytime he talks that he doesn't know when to stop, and as someone else pointed out, completely fudges around it by not replying to the subject...

As for all the gear you have, personally don't know how you manage itespecially with so many multiples of synth(7 JD800's are you insane)at my height of synth madness probably had around 23 or so synths at one time in the studio, but have used and owned so much it scares me to think what I've spent over the years,I still consider what I have in the studio now as insane and most of the time a distraction to my ultimate aim with writing music, although I'm much more comfortable with the current setup, and still trying to go back to basics and slimdown but find it hard to part with so many great synths,I actually envy those who get by withone or two synths and nothing more,I currently have a few synths in storage in an attempt to try the old "put them away and sell them if you no longer miss them"some which I consider gems like the Korg Z1,Triton Extreme,Quasimidi Raven,I tend to work with different setups with a handful of synths make a track them change setup again so chop and change what gets stored away just to add a little variety to writing, interesting that you also like me own an Eminent 310 unique which is also in storage....I have no real use for this whatsoever now but because of it's rarity(and the reason why I bought it in the firstplace which has something of a sentimental value)guess it's one of a kind that can't so easily be found or replaced even if it's simply a mediocre Organ

@Bruce Lychee
Any chance of posting a link to those soundcloud JP80 user demos

So PLEASE respect my decision on this for right now.....

I don't care if people here believe me or not, NOR do I care about looking like an idiot because that's NOT my problem. But I won't post pics until I feel ready to, given amount of hell I went through to get that OASYS back

Just one thing that puzzles me.......You say you don't care about looking an idiot and we should respect your decision because you don't want to go through hell, possibly worried about getting all this gear nicked because of the mental anxiety you endured from the stolen Oasys saga

If your that worried why do you claim to own all this and that...If you had any ounce of intellect wouldn't you be playing your cards close to your chest and not brag about s**t,so if the cap fits....Wear it

Where I come from proclaiming your material wealth in this type of manner is an invitation to people to steal it from you!Bragging is simply asking for it because there are people out there who would like to take it from you,and in my hood those that normally brag without any proof of their wealth are the always the ones who have f*ck all and just think it gains them respect or recognition in society but would simply be ignored in life without it......

Well it doesn't gain you respect!!it simply shows how shallow a personaility some are and how you crave some kind of social power because your not assertive enough in Life in general to gain respect or build relationships and you can act out some kind of fantasy in here because no-one would know otherwise

Those that do have it,(at least those who are not egotistical or crave social recognition or have worked hard to gain it)don't proclaim it to all and sundry in that manner, its one thing to show people your studio, but another to keep adding to the story with no proof especially in an over inflated manner,I don't know why you feel the need to do it,nobody would think any less of you having 1 keyboard or 80 keyboards, and I Certainly don't know of any member in here who would try and steal it from you,so why the reservations???you may think otherwise of peoples motives, but why over egg it by claiming to have many multiples of synths for all the world to see you say so!!!

You reap what you sow in Life

Sina172 wrote:That was in 2009. That was the year I lost EVERYTHING I had...Starting with the OASYS. I stopped living. It was like I was dead inside. Emotionless, didn't really care about anything anymore, had some SERIOUS anger tantrums towards everyone around me and I was AFRAID to make music again in fear of losing that also....And the things I DID have, were rendered useless. So I sold them.
Woah wait...so you are now claiming to have purchased the 150+ synths you claim to have since 2009? In 2 years you aquired 50 Korg Tritons?

Ugh Sina, please put down the shovel you are using to dig your grave deeper.

Kevin, aka Sina173 ;)

Can you please take some photos and show us?
Because I need to see these 7x JD800's with my own eyes!

And please no excuses like:
"I don't have them anymore, ½ is sold" or
"Its dirty floors, its embarrassing to take pics" e.t.c.

Because I'm just wondering how is a professors salary paying for all those things?
.....Still waiting for the allusive, missing EXf for Oasys.....
