M3 is still a smokin' bit of kit! A bit of perspective.
My Kronos and loaded M3 are literally 2000 miles apart! Arizona vs. Alaska. Been living with the Kronos and JP-80 for the past two months and forgot all about the M3. Didn't have it to play and work with so out of sight out of mind right? Well I've rediscovered the M3 over the past couple of days. Holy crap what a bitchin' piece of kit this is. The RH3 88 keybed, Outstanding!! This thing really rocks.
Don't get me wrong the Kronos is really spectacular, with all the 9 synth engines, bells and whistles and without a doubt most likely the best workstation out there. However, the M3 ain't no bag of crap. I really didn't appreciate the M3 fully until rediscovery over the past few days. I will never sell it, ever!

If the M3 was not crap b4 Kronos and JP-80 then it will still not be crap to you now. I am glad you took a look back after spending all that money. Its all about programming, You would not believe the sounds I created in the M3. Most people would say the M3 can not do this or that. If you master the keyboard you will find that yes Kronos is better because it offer you more but, I look at the M3 as a workstation that uses less to offer you endless possibility. With todays software a lot of producers what to hear that there is gigs of sound and not a tool that uses less to offer you a lotJuneauUnderground wrote:My Kronos and loaded M3 are literally 2000 miles apart! Hi, nice topic. I am trying to buy a Korg M3. Here, in Argentina-South America, the dealer stop bringing them, we just have the M50 and Kronos.
Anyway I will keep on searching...maybe I will buy some M3 used, in good shape..
After a long research, when I think what I get on the M3 (pads, xy mode, Karma, Sampler, EXB, and a great solid construction) it's a great deal, even more when I can load my own sounds, done on my M50, into the M3.
I understand KRONOS is the best...but, here the 61 version cost 3700 Dollars! (this price is by now, it will go down at least 400 dollars). But living in south america, is not a good idea to have such an expensive instrument at live, what for? some guy can steal it, is not safe, I play EVERY WEEKEND!
Also is not reasonable to "put" on stage an instrument of 3700 dollars, to get 100 dollars of payment, more or less...
I think the talent is on your fingers! and not on the instrument...So I've already start spending the difference with Kronos, to pay more piano lessons with a very good teacher here.
Regards, and if some of you wil come to south america, don't scary, is not so dangerous, It was just an example!

I look at the M3 as a Kronos-lite. If you have the radias exp board, the extra ram board loaded in and a killer third party piano and organ sample set, the M3 can be a beast. To be sure, if Kronos were offered in a 73 key semi-weighted C-C configuration I would probably pick up a Kronos, but since that will probably never happen I'm holding on to the M3. Remember you can get the smooth-sound-transition on the M3 using Karma scene buttons. There have been many discussion on third party sample sets and I can't say which ones, but if you do a little research you will find the piano/organ samples hold up extremely well in comparison to the Kronos.

Korg M3 is a great workstation and I really loved mine
Nowadays is hard to find a new Korg M3 from music stores and the M50 is much more common.
While M50 and M3 share the same synth engine (EDS), with M3 there are far more expansion posibilities... And regarding keybed, M3 is far better except for 88 keys (both have the RH3)
Try GigaSonic for international shipping... Those guys may be able to send the M3 to Argentina...

Thanks MarPabl, the problem is that our Customs are terrible. Is not like in the United States, here, everything that comes from other country pass trough customs (even fedex, ups, usps, etc..)I find a way to bring it paying a reasonable commission, but they can't be 100% sure that the M3 will arrive here in perfect conditions, I am worried that it will brake on the road...MarPabl wrote:Korg M3 is a great workstation and I really loved mine

three really great synths.
I'd like a JP80 myself to supplement my M3m. But I'm like you.
I will not sell my M3m.
