Radias Arpeggiator Issue

Post by prokat99 »

Hi, I am new to the forum and couldn't find any info on this. I have come across an issue with the arpeggiator that is very confusing. Here is the scenario: I am playing a song with two timbres, both of which are assigned to two different Midi Channels, and one of those timbres has the Arpeggiator assigned to it and the "ON" button engaged.
Here is the Issue: I go to play the first timbre (no arpeggiator) and despite the other timbre being on a different Midi Channel, the Arpeggiator starts playing that timbre. I can not seem to find an option anywhere that will prevent this. I realize of course that I could just keep the "ON" button turned off but it seems to me that shouldn't be the case. Is this a built in flaw? or did I miss something?
Thank you in advance.

The arp actually isn't MIDI channel specific. What you want to do is scroll over in the R3's editing menu to EDIT-P32 and using the first knob that says Assign, switch the parameter to the Timbre of your choice (1, 2 or 1+2).

I actually have a Radias, not the R3. Is it the same procedure? (i'm not in front of it right now)

On the Radias, I believe the Arpeggiator will always respond to the global channel, AND the channel of any timbre to which it is assigned.

If you want a timbre not to trigger the arpeggiator, you to set that one to not be on the global channel.
Generally I try not to use the global channel at all, so despite having four timbres the Radias in my setup takes up 5 channels.

This is all with a MIDI controller or DAW. I'm not sure how it works if you're using the Radias-KB.

I agree with X-trade. I use the same setup with my radias and have it set to not use the global midi channel and instead use 5 midi channels. This took me awhile to figure out at first but he is correct in that the global channel will trigger any timbre associated with it
