MicroKontrol won't act as midi controller
I bought a MicroKontrol a few months ago and have been using it as a regular keyboard without any problems. Recently I decided to try and use it as a midi controller, and I haven't been able to get it to work at all. I'm working with Ableton on OS X 10.5, and it doesn't seem to recognize any midi coming from the keyboard. I've installed the latest drivers and that doesn't make a difference. If I look in audio midi setup, I don't see the microkontrol listed. Other midi devices show up fine. Help!
What do you mean by 'using it as a regular keyboard'? The microKontrol is a MIDI controller and doesn't make any sounds of its own..

sorry I meant that I'm able to use it as an instrument with ableton, so if I assign an instrument and press the keys it makes the corresponding note (so data is being sent and received), but if I go into midi assignment mode and try to use any of the buttons (including the keyboard keys) none of them work. I have a nano set and they are able to be assigned without any problems.
Well this is actually an Ableton problem then, because if your Kontrol is sending MIDI to your computer and it's getting through, then it works fine.
I think in Ableton you have to set the MIDI port to be used for controlling Ableton's assignable controls, it's called Remote or something like that.
Edit:
Yup, you have to go into Preferences > MIDI and turn on 'Remote' for the appropriate MIDI port.
