Is PA500 as good as PA60? what are improvements if any?
Hey Guys,
It’s been a while but I’m still a big fan of Korg and of this forum…I hope one or more can help answer this...
I owned a PA60 but did not take the proper precautions to insulate it from the bumps and bruises that came from moving it back and forth from rehearsals and gigs. It died. I was devastated to say the least, extremely depressed to say the most. That was a year and a half ago.
Now I have an opportunity to purchase a ‘PA500’ (that’s if they approve my credit, keep your fingers crossed) from Z.Z. Hounds. Before that happens I’d like your opinions on the whole ‘Compare and Contrast’ paradigm of the PA60 and PA500 - although common sense would dictate that the ‘Updated’ model would in fact be better than the former model, I’d still welcome all your input as to the ‘Pro’s and Cons’ .
as usual your answer(s) would be very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Manny.

Hi Manny, you can load in pa2x, pa1x, pa800 styles into pa500, don't believe it can be done on a pa60 so giving you more flexibility in finding styles for it....
I'm sure there's more but I've no experience of pa60

I also have no experience of PA60, but play PA500 for more than 3 years now.
Really good instrument, great value for money IMO.
Check out all the specs & demo's here: www.korgpa.com
Always try to play the instrument yourself before you make a purchase.
Good luck!

First off thank you both for answering so quickly. This is an ‘amazing’ website with ‘amazing people’, you two are a great example of this.
Well, you two just confirmed my gut feeling that the PA500 is a very good Korg Product as was the PA60...
I had the PA60 for over 3 years and I went a long way towards improving on that whole learning curve that is necessary for truly enjoying the instrument and using all of its capabilities. So I am sooo sold on the PA line of instruments -
Hence my reverence towards the features of The Pa500 and the support for it found on this website…thank you both for the help and answers… also for the reference to the free software website that you included Keith, that was above and beyond the call of duty mate.
Thank you Mr. Fransman and Thank you Keith…will let you both know if my dream of purchasing this beauty of a keyboard comes true!
Sincerely,
Manny

My voice is unadorned. I don't try for perfection. I try to be honest and truthful and soulful with the voice I have. If I make mistakes in notes, or there are cracks in notes, I don't fix them. That's the way it is." Neil Diamond"

Bonjour galettouille,
thanks a lot for your reply and help, I appreciate it very much. In exactly two weeks I will know for sure If I will be able to purchase the PA500 - needless to say I can't wait. I bookmarked the Link you sent me, I thought the sounds and styles were awesome! Do you know if I can download any of those sounds and/or styles to 'The PA500'
Whatever the answer,
Merci Beaucoup my friend

Hi!
You can download my SET here : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T3DW2LT0
BUT! A lot of my styles use user sounds, and some user sounds use samples. The PA500 can't use samples. So, at first you can load some styles, and if they sound strange, you can load missing sounds. If it doesn't work, it's probably because it uses samples. Try to replace by factory sounds.
But before these things, make music and learn to drive this beautiful instrument.
