I love my Kronos and all of the sweet sounds that it makes. I love the nasty organs I can make with it and so does my band. My hands are even starting to get some good calluses from all the excessive palm slides :)

As someone who works in technology, nothing is perfect. And honestly. the more expensive something is, the more finicky it tends to be. Anyone who has dealt with multi-million dollar enterprise software will whole heartedly agree. If you want simple and rock solid - get something from 10 years ago (or something with 10 year old technology - I'm looking at you Motif...). If you want the cutting edge, you have to realize that the more complex something gets, the more likely it is to have "quirks." Luckily though, with a lot of it being software based, things will get ironed out eventually.

It is a seriously good keyboard.
That's like saying , hey thats a great air plane over there but the only problem is the wings fall off when you fly it but besides that it's all ace's . O Com on .
No it isn't.

Do you fly? Yes you do, because the vast majority of planes don't crash. Like the vast majority of Kronosasurus's don't crash.

Yes I am a fanboy, if thats possible at 44. I think it's called making an informed decision about what you like.

Actually, the Kronos IS the ten year old tech...the tech in a Motif is just ROM size based improvements on the paradigm that's been in keyboards since the early 90s.

I bought Gigastudio, Evp88, and NI's B4 a decade ago. The Kronos is an evolution of THAT tech--modeled organ and EP, disk streaming for drum and acoustic pianos. Just lacks large disk streaming string samples. It's processor is about equivalent to a dual core version of that box--allowing you to not also have outboard FX.

Anyway...I am very happy with the Kronos. Now, all I HAVE to turn the computer on for is strings and occasionally drum editing. So, that's not meant as a slam...bit, realistically, the issue they're running into is about two decisions: using off the shelf PC main board and manufacturing in China. Not because it some sort of bleeding edge tech...at ALL. It's just "new" to the embedded system keyboard market. Those Reactor rack units have reliability issues, too. I've interestingly never found one in stock in town that was currently functioning!! I've never seen off the shelf PC main board embedded systems be as stable and robust as custom electronics manufacture.

In fairness, EVERY new keyboard you buy should be the "Best" you've ever owned. Otherwise, where's the progress?

There's nothing wrong with being a fanboy really! I'm a fanboy - of the OASYS :) and proudly so. I have long thought it is the best keyboard Korg have ever produced and nothing that has been produced more recently has changed my opinion.

BUT - The Kronos is a great, wonderful keyboard - if it's working. For those who have a dysfunctional one, then it's not great.

A little respect between both camps would be nice! You're all Kronites! You're all in the K club - where's the mutual respect?

Rocness?
You edited what I put to try and win a non argument . It's a keyboard forum, not the UN.
Chill man!
Happy new year.

(Cello. Your right. I'll leave it at that!)
