Kronos Arpeggiator Controlled by External DAW

Post by paterrob »

Hi,

I am using an external DAW with the Kronos in Combi mode and used one of the bass programs that contained the arpeggiator. When I slow down the tempo in my DAW program (Cubase) it doesn’t appear to slow down the arpeggiation of the bass line within the Kronos. Is there a way I can do this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Robert

In the global menu, set the midi clock sync to "external".
This will lock all tempo-based fx to the tempo received from Cubase. It will also prevent you from playing arps or karma while Cubase is not sending clock (e.g. when it is paused), something to keep in mind. The "auto" setting should adapt to Cubase and use the internal clock when not receiving any from Cubase, so it is possibly more useful to you.

Ditto to the above. I spent the entire weekend documenting how to do this. Pro Tools was most annoying for sure, but I beat up Pro Tools and now it's scared of me again.

I also have a classic Korg DDD-1 that would start when Pro Tools/ Cubase would start, but also sending midi clock out to the Kronos, causing KARMA to play twice as fast because it was receiving two clock syncs from two different devices. I fixed that as well.

Good stuff.
Too much equipment. What a bonehead.

Thank you for the information. This also explains why Karma was starting up and not stopping. :D

Hi Sander,

I did what you said in your reply but once completed and the tempo was slowed down in my Cubase 6 the appegiator no longer was active with the bass preset I was using and was just a single note (no longer an appregiated pattern).

Any ideas?

Robert
