Having considered the option to upgrade to the Pa3x pro can anyone help on saving midi file songbook files etc from Pa1xpro so I can import onto the Pa3x.
I was hoping to go to my local store today armed with the necessary but cant seem to save in a format to import onto a USB stick.
Can anyone explain how to get the files off the Pa1xpro so I can load onto USB.
I need to be sure the Pa3xpro can replicate what I have on the Pa1x as gigs lined up with all my play lists etc. I use the song book to call up my midi files via the numbered option.
Thanks
John.
Hi,
Getting your midi files will be easy but I'm pretty sure setting up your songbook entries will take some time.
I dont have the 2x or the 3x but this is what I think you might have to do.
1. Copy your midi files to a computer.
Plug in a USB cable from your Pa1x to a computer, go to Disk, USB, Enable on your Pa1x, and wait a minute or 2 until the computer is ready to recognize your pa1x (its a little slow being only USB 1 compliant. Then just navigate to your midi files on your computer (use windows explorer via windows key+E,) windows will display your keyboards drive as something like Korg1.6, keep double clicking/opening till you find your midi files. (Could be someting like, Korg1.6, DirectHD, My Midis etc) then copy them all to a folder on your computer. Be very careful you don't delete them from your pa1x. Now plug a USB pendrive into your computer and copy your midis to it.
2. While there may be a way to copy across your songbook I doubt it would be easy due to a different file structure in your Pa3x.
I'd be inclined to set up the new song book one at a time. One good feature of the Pa1x is that you can export a text file telling you of most of your Songbook settings including songname, tranposition etc.
On your Pa1x go to Songbook and if necessary filter down to your Songbook favourites. Now use the drop down menu and you will see the option to Export as a text file. Do this and open the file on your computer (it best to open it with a spreadsheet program rather than with word or notepad as it will display in nice neat columns but notepad will probably do).
From here on you will need to open each song and set it up with your favourite STS's etc.
I'd be keeping my Pa1x as a back up if I were you.
Hope this helps a little.
John
Reuben,
Many thanks for your reply. I will give it a go tonight & see how I get on.
I've already warned the guys at the music store that I will be descending on them tomorrow. Hopefully things will fall into place & convince me to take the plunge.
You are right in what you say about keeping the Pa1xpro as back up.
Once again many thanks & I will let you know how I get on.
Well that's it everything I wanted the Pa3x to do with my existing Pa1xPro files worked. Midi files loaded onto hard drive in one operation (100+ files)
They may need tweeking a bit but I can live with that as the Pa3x is an awesome beast.
The Pa1xPro is still an outstanding piece of kit live so really excited at the thought of putting the Pa3x through it's paces.
