Fade Out Song in Sequencer

Post by chuckyluc »

Hi There,

I have two parts recorded that loop in the sequencer. At the end of the song I want them to fade out over a few bars.

Can I do this in the sequencer at all?

Thanks

Not sure if that can be done because of the loop. You could normally do an overdub and just ride the faders to create the control data, but since you are looped, the fades would probably loop also. I am not a sequencer expert, but make a copy of the sequence and play with it and see what happens. Keep the original- just in case!

You can record your fader movements to any track. For example: You want to fade down volume on tracks 1 and 2, which loop. You can record their fader movements on track 16 (or any other non-looping MIDI track), even if you already have a sequence on that track. Use OVERDUB, so you don't erase previous data.

If you don't like the recording pass, simply UNDO it (COMPARE button). You can also keep note data and erase just the CC or SYSEX data, using the ERASE MEASURE function.

So Mike, I am assuming you assign the track to use for the fader data to the same MIDI channel as the tracks that you want to fade? And if his 2 tracks are on different MIDI channels that it would take 2 faders?

Hi there,

Thanks for the advice.

Yeah I recorded the fader movements on track 15 and 16.

Then in the Track Parameter tab assigned the Midi Channel 15 to Midi Channel 1 and 16 to Midi Channel 2.

The fader movements are then applied to the looped tracks at the appropriate measure at the end of the song.

Although the fader movements for 1 and 2 are the same it seems that I do have to record the faders separately because I can only reroute the midi to 1 channel e.g. 15 to channel 1 and 16 to channel 2.

That make sense? Is this as good a way as any to do it?

Thanks it worked!

You don't have to. In TIMBRE/TRACK mode, you can use any track for "mixdown." You can move all 16 fader volumes (and pan knobs) and record every move to a single track, if you want. However, for organizational purposes, it's not a bad idea to record the fader movement to the track it is affecting. That way, if you want to edit per fader, you can just go to that track.

Now, if you were in TONE ADJUST mode (faders assigned to filter, amp, transposition, etc.), you need to record to the same track as the program that you are editing.

Instead of recording twice try just copying the first fader track?
