'Legal Sounds'

This website has been taking albums available for free/pay what you want on Bandcamp and other sites, hosting them on their site, and charging for them- the artist does not benefit from the purchase, only the website.

This is horrible. 'legal' sounds is running a money making scam. I doubt any of the music they host by mainstream artists was actually legally acquired, either.

Why does Megaupload get removed, but not this?

Example:
This is an album by Lapfox Trax (who goes by many aliases, but mostly by Renard). He usually releases his music for free. Here's an example, where he's set it to pay what you want:
Official, Free version- http://lapfox.bandcamp.com/album/post-t ... s-disorder

And here's the version on legal sounds, which has been confirmed as not uploaded by Renard:

Another artist named Futret brought this to my attention when he denoted that he wasn't the one to upload his (free) album to the site, and wasn't getting any money from them.

The fact that they are stealing and reselling free music, combined with the fact that they are charging impossibly low prices ($0.09 per song) makes me believe that there is no legal legitimacy to this company.
Current: MS-20 Mini, Minilogue, SY77

Under similar licenses to GNU-based ones, although artist's music may be free, the artists still retain full exclusive rights over their works. In otherwords they're still copyrighted by the artist and are not legally allowed to be lifted and placed on another site without their permission, let alone allow others to make money from them.

As such, if the artists didn't give permission for their works to be used in this way, they can sue, royally. Easier said than done though.
