Korg Kontrol Editor not starting

Post by reaktor »

Hi there,

I sincerely hope you can help me with my problem - I just recently bought the korg nano package with a nanopad, nanokontrol and a nanokey.

The USB-driver installs without a problem and the devices work in reason4. Now if I try to start the Kontrol editor, it shows me the grey "control editor" screen for a second or so, then shuts down without any further explanation or error message. It simply won't start up.
At the moment I run windows XP SP3 on a quadcore Q6700 and 4GB ram.

I have two other USB->Midi devices running on this system as well, a crappy Midistudio2 from Miditech and one alesis Photon25. But even with those switched off the editor shows the same problem.
I tried to install my downloaded version on a friends netbook to make sure its not a problem with my download and there the editor works without problems.

Now I cannot call my friend everytime I want to change a setting, so - Is this a known problem or would anyone here know what I can do to get this software running on my system?
Any hint or idea would be greatly appreciated... :)

Btw. I shut down every background task my system could live without - anti virus, drive emulation and all that - No avail, that program won't start up. :(

Seems to be a MidiStudio2 issue and not the quad core.
Did you resolve this issue?

Edit: Yep... Just uninstall the MidiStudio2 driver and the Kontrol Editor worked.. Now what?

yesterday I resolved that Issue by uninstalling the midistudio2 drivers. Sold that piece of crap, it produced more problems than it solved.

After uninstalling the midistudio drivers all my korg nano-tools now work as they are supposed to. RajahP - Thanks for your help :) Its been really appreciated.

Korg Kontrol Editor Doesn't start for me Either?? On a Mac

Post by pfunk »

I see this is an older post, but I just bought the nanoKontrol2 as well as nanoPad2 and have had the same exact problem as the original poster.

I don't, however, have the conflicting gear he mentioned. In my case I am using an M-Audio interface 2626 on a MacBook Pro (Fall 2010) model running OS 10.6.8

I run latest versions of ableton 8 and Logic 9 - I tested it in Logic and the plugin works so far - also tested the pad in Ableton and they seem to be working. After following all the instructions and installing latest driver & updates - I then ran the Korg Kontrol and it just shows the launch screen and then crashes with no message, nothing.

I too have tried reinstalling as well as quiting everything running & unplugging all devices except the nanoKontrol to no avail.

This is really frustrating as I need this thing for an upcoming gig and I can't edit it.

Please help folks. Any insights are greatly appreciated!
