midi file save, edit and "resaving" problem

Post by tomd »

I've been saving songs created using the style function. I then import them (midi file) into my daw (Pro Tools) to further edit and the files play fine in P.T. but when I then try to save the file (in midi format) I get an error message that states "error missing expected system exclusive data" (or something similar). Any one know what I'm not doing properly? Thanks

That's a strange one. I've been doing this keyboard-pro tools thing forever, and never seen an error like that. I dont' think there's anything you should've done to prevent this. You'd simply export the file and import it into pro tools.
I'm pretty sure this error has to do with your pro tools set up somehow.

I went back and checked my P.T. settings and all looked normal. I then tried exporting the midi file as a type 1 from P.T. and I didn't get that message, but the Pa3x doesn't import type 1 midi files. (Or I am doing something incorrectly in trying to import type 1).
