Can you assign program oscillators to a key range?

Post by bassman »

G'day cats,

I'm helping a friend program a pa50 for a covers band. For most of the songs he needs only a single sound (e.g. piano) or layered sound (e.g. piano + strings). Simplest way I can see to program up the pa50 is to put the sounds he needs in the pages of a user program bank - one program per song, name it the song name and he just calls up the song (he needs ~40 songs).

But, there are a handful of songs that he needs to split the keyboard on. So, my question is, is it possible within a program to assign an oscillator to a key range? E.g. Osc1 C1-B2, Osc2 C3-C6. I've hunted through the parameters and can't seem to find one that relates to key range.

Or, if I want to split the keyboard, do I need to be in Style Play mode? And therefore I'd be best programming his songs into the user style banks? Seems a little more complex to me and there's not as many user memories available (though I suspect I need to understand STS and performances more...)

Appreciate your feedback...
