New Kaossilator

Interesting. It seems that the kaossilators no longer have drum voices (as in the original, how they divided up the x axis with half snare, half bass, for example) but instead "kits". I assume the x axis is further divided into more than just 2 drum voices per program. But then I wonder about the "Drum Patterns" Maybe those are similar to the drums on the KP3 and iKaossilator - full patterns that vary as you go along the x or y? (Forgive my ignorance regarding the KPro but I've never used the drum sections on that).
I'm thinking that this thread needs to be moved to Korg Kaoss section / department. Just a thought mods...

So, any news now ?
Will it be 8, 16 or 32 beats maximum ?
And is there still an UNDO function ?
Is it improved ?
Will it be possible to record the sound on both tracks at the same time (by pressing I and II and the same time) ?
Korg already knows this info...
The NAMM is over now, why don't they put more info online ?
And the manual ? They should put it online ! It's surely done by now if it gets out next month in Japan...

video shows a good overview of the controll screen, e.g. that speed can be changed on the fly, progress bar for the loop position, live volume-peak
for the loops
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnC6YHNE ... re=related
not rly new, but said again:
built in mic / speakers
if you compare the displayed bars to this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VZnSKT-gWI
you can see that the progress bar for the loop banks is divided in 4 parts in the second vid, while its divided in 8 in the upper vids.
ps: the performer in the second vid is finally someone using both pads instead of just showing stupid sounds and effects
for the loops

Koishi knows how to compose a song, as he demonstrates buildup, teardown, chord progressions, and layers.
Korg demonstrators remain clueless about how to use their own gear to make songs. Notice how all of their beats have to be faded out? That is because the demonstrator does not set up the loops properly to do a teardown or layers.
The Koishi video is wrong and misleading in one important respect. It wasn't done live in real time. It had to have been done in at least two takes, unless this is Koishi:

Regardless, Korg should hire muscian/composers like Koishi and Denkitribe to do all their videos, or at least train their demonstrators how to use their own gear to show how songs are really made.
By the way, the song Koishi made on the Kaossilator 2 cannot be done on the Kaossilator Pro. Why? Because the Kaossilator 2 has retained the arp patterns of the original, instead of using the boneheaded fixed time gate of the Pro. Unfortunately, Korg also missed a huge opportunity of keeping at least 4 loops going. They also removed the undo feature that was on the original Kaossilator, so now you spoil the whole loop and have to rebuild it from scratch if you make one mistake while recording. It always seems to be 2 steps forward and 1 step back with Korg lately.

A bit peeved about something.
In the Kaossilator 2 manual, under the Controls section, Utility menu, Display brightness, there's a note: "Extended use of high settings will affect the display's lifespan."
So does this mean that the OEM display will eventually fail, rendering the unit useless, unless of course if you repair it or install a new one?
Also, the max beats (again) is 8beat.
Loop Recording
"You can record a performance of up to eight beats (two measures of a 4/4 time signature)"
This is disappointing for sure. Let's hope they throw in a firmware update at some point that allows an unadulterated 16 beats.
On the plus side, the ARP is definitely here, and you can also now tune the the time AND the swing. Definitely a great addition.
But all of this makes me wonder if KORG is going to release, a year later or so, the KPRO 2?? If so, would it be better to wait for that?
