Korg_USD MIDI Driver not recognised by Sonar X1
I have purchased nanoKONTROL2 and nanoPAD2 midi controllers, however the one issue I have is that when I install the latest Korg_USB MIDI Driver as I am told to do before installing the KONTROL edidtor, my Sonar X1 fails to recognise the midi devices, however when I use Audio Device Driver as the driver for them they then are recognised by Sonar X1.
However when I got to use Amplitube 3, I need to change the nanoPAD2 from notes to cc, through the KONTROL Editor, however the KONTROL EDITOR doesnt recognised it, when using the Audio device Driver.
However my instruction manual says that nanoKONTROL2 works with Sonar, but how is this possible when the KORG driver is not recognised by Sonar.
Can someone advise me whether or not KORG will produce a driver that will integrate with Sonar X1, so that I can use the KONTROL Editor to chance my nanoPAD2 from notes to CC please with out having to constantly change the drivers over.

What version of: Driver, Firmware, Kontrol Editor?
Driver Version should be 1.1.13
Firmware(system updater) should be 0103 for nanoKontrol and 0104 for nanoPad2
Kontrol Editor should be 1.2.0
Check here on the dowlnoads tab: http://korg.com/SupportResults.aspx?productid=596

well, I have downloaded the update software 1.03 for nanoKONTROL2 and 1.04 for nanoPAD2. I have installed the KORG USB MIDI Driver. However neither of the update software recognise the KONTROL 2 or PAD2 midi device.
I keep getting: No midi device found.
So if have come to the conclusion Korg need to redo there Midi driver to support window 7 sp1 better as my computer recognises that they are there but there software doesnt.
How ironic is that.

I am become disenchanted with KORG, they design a product that is within my price range, and the software they design for these devices dont recognise them. If I cant find a solution to my problem soon, I wont be able to recommend these products to my friends.
I cannot edit the devices through KONTROL Editor 1.20, nor can I update them with the KORG update programs using the stipulated KORG USB MIDI driver 1.13r6.
Is there a way to get nanoPAD2 to reprogram to Continuous Command mode without using the KONTROL Editor as it is currently set to notes.

The driver shouldn't be 'incompatible' with any particular DAW because that is handled by the OS (Windows).
So the chances are that you just don't have it working correctly.
Have you run the installer for the drivers, and run the 'install Korg USB-MIDI Device' that it puts in the Start menu?
I may be a bit behind as I haven't used Korg drivers in Windows since I bought my mac.. But as I remember, the installer only puts the drivers on the system, but the utility is needed to assign those drivers to the device. You'll have to repeat this step if you use a different USB port too.
This is a limitation of Windows.
Finally, have you contacted your national Korg distributor for support? they will usually be more helpful than posting on an independent user forum and waiting for help.
Note that using the default windows drivers (which would happen until you don't run the install utility), will be fine for using the device with other software in most cases, but won't work with the editor.
Your issue with Sonar may be a 32bit/64 bit issue. Unfortunately 64bit software can't use 32bit-only drivers and vice versa. This causes some problems and is just a mess with many software packages at the moment, still.

I have contacted my National Distributor, and they are no help, they wanted me to send them an email with details of the problems, so they can forward the email to KORG in Japan. But there email address has been disabled.
So I went and put in a ticket with the KORG UK because they had a web form for tech support with a hope they could find a solution to my problem.
Hopefully someone will come up with a solution

I think I found what the problem is. When installing the driver on my 64 bit system it only installs the 64 bit drivers and doesnt allow for the option to install 32 bit drivers.
My reasoning behind this:
When I install the driver on my laptop which is 32 bit, I get the same issue, however when I set the driver through control panel to USB Audio Device, my KONTROL Editor recognises my nanoPAD2 and I can make changes to the type.
So the driver software only install one driver, based on the system you have.
However even though there is a configuration program that allows you to set the drivers to either 32 bit or 64 bit, the only driver that is actually installed is the 64 bit driver, so when you set it to 32 bit only, you will only get the 64 bit driver only. So the configuration for the midi driver doesnt work as it should.
I hope that makes sense.

I too had the same problems with my nanopad 2 on my Win 7 64 bit system. But I did the following and it worked. It also worked on my friends pc with the same problem. You have make the USB MIDI driver think you are installing it on a Vista operating system. Follow the step procedure below.
Step 1: Uninstall the drivers from Device Manager.
a. Click Start and type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotes), and then press Enter.
b. Find the device and double click to expand it
c. Right click on the device and select Uninstall.
d. Click on the start button and type "regedit.exe" (without quotes), and then press Enter. Find the the KORG registry string (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\KORG) right click and delete KORG folder.
e. Restart the computer.
Step 2: Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer website and install in compatibility mode.
a. Right click on the setup file (setup.exe for the drivers) and select Properties.
b. Now click on the Compatibility tab and check the box which says Run this program in compatibility mode for.
c. Select Windows Vista (Service Pack 2). Click Apply and OK.
d. Now right click the setup file and select Run as Administrator and follow the normal installation procedure. Check to see if you can use the program now.
Step 3: Now install the Korg Kontrol Editor
a. Once installed, go to the preferences and now you should be able to assign the Korg Nanopad 2 MIDI in and out ports.

When you install the driver on a 64-bit system, it will work on both 32-bit and 64-bit programs. The driver configuration should be set to "Both" under advanced. If you're not seeing the device in your host software than either your driver isn't installed properly or you've hit the 10 device limit in your registry which has been discussed previously in many threads. The registry issue is likely what happened on your 32-bit system.thdawkins wrote:I think I found what the problem is.
