MIDI Control Changes in pa3x sequencer

Post by rock1009 »

I am trying to find the MIDI Control 07 change command inside the main pa3x sequencer and don't see one. Am I missing something? All I want to do is fade out a track sound across 4 measures of sustained notes. The modify velocity/volume commands only work with changing notes, not across sustained ones. This is such a basic feature on my other Korg keyboard that I can't imagine the pa3x would leave it out of the sequencer menu. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks, Lika...I know about what you said. I was just wondering if the MIDI command was there in the pa3x main sequencer so that I could do a more precise (gradual) fade-out than I could by using the track slider. Thanks again.

a "cheap" trick is to switch off the automatic tempo (if selected) and slow the sequence down to a manageable speed, then record "overdub" the volume slider

Just use controller 11 (expression) insert a "series" running from 127 -0 over the time frame (number of bars) you want....

In Sonar you can select the number of bars you want the transition over and then it auto sets each entry of the CC11 equally spaced over the specified # of bars. I do believe Cubase does this as well

It may even be do-able this way in the PA sequencer, I have not tried as I do most of my work in Sonar then import into the PA.

PS: I just checked, and no you cannot paste it in, BUT another way of doing it EASILY would be to simply assign the controller 11 to a slider (or the assignable pedal in Global - Controllers) and then set the sequencer to record and then record the action of either the slider or footpedal, from full on (CC value 127) to full off (CC value 0).

Record this to one track, then using the COPY command (Menu - Song Edit - Copy) ....select the from track (which would be the one you just recorded) and then copy to all tracks including the selection of the starting and ending bars to copy it to....

MIDI Control Changes in pa3x sequencer

Thanks to all for the responses...some good suggestions for a work-around. I'm still a little surprised that such a full-featured keyboard wouldn't (apparently) have a simple MIDI 07 change macro in the main sequencer menu. Thanks again.
