Rewriting the sound data via 2nd update + firewire question

Post by CharlesFerraro »

I acquired my M3 used with OS version 2.0.4 installed. I'm not sure if the original user did the back to back update procedure while installing OS 2.0 in order to rewrite the sound data on the second run. How can I check for this?

I don't want to downgrade to OS 2.0 to try and do the install again and the 2.0.4 update zip lacks the .KEP files needed for the upgrade.

Theres a chance he already did it I just don't know how to know, you know?

My other question has to do with the editor. I've been upgrading the module to make it "fully loaded". Got the firewire and tried running the editor in my DAW. It was my understanding that audio and midi data is transferred through the firewire cable yet the computer doesn't recognize the M3 as a MIDI device. Is it necessary to have the M3 connected to the computer via USB and Firewire in order to use the plug-in editor to it's full capacity?

Thanks Guru's, your experience always saves me a lot of hassle.

Hi, I had the same worries after purchasing used M3 but after a while decided to re-install the software again completely. I like a feeling of having a new synth. :-)
