Specifically, I got a pair of the "ECC803S Gold Pin Matched and Balanced" tubes -- they make it sound so much smoother and fuller.

They're pricey but I may buy a pair soon. I've noticed this slight his when I record and I want to iron that issue out if I can. I read a few posts that say better tubes will kill it.
In a way it adds a gritty edge to the sound but when the throttle is wide open you're not listening for that and it's terrible to hear it during a melodic synth part.
I don't have fancy gadgets. I just make music with old soup cans and a stick I found in the woods.
