I own m50 and owned x50 and I can assure that key action is deeply different.

That picture would explain then why some think the M50 plays better than the X. Thanks for clearing that up. I like the semi weighted feel also.

well..having play with both and coming from classical piano training, i experienced that key action of x50 is extremely light, too too much light, almost like organ keybed. it's fine for playing fast synth part or pads, but when it comes to piano or expressive parts it is really difficult to fell well with x50 keybed.

with m50 things are better, the synth action keys responds better to playing and allows for a certain degree or expressiveness even w/o being weighted

You definitely made the right choice - The X50 has some great sounds but as others have posted, feels flimsy in comparison to the M50. I was also never a fan of the carry handles on the side, to me seem a bit unsightly, although I can understand their purpose given it's target market.

I had Korg X50 only for 5 days. I sold it after I used it for a second time. The overall quality of the materials and workmanship really makes you wonder where does the synthesizer industry go? That X50 does not have springs on keys, it has some bending plastics instead! How reliable and durable can it be, well, I don't want to know.

I really hope that Korg M50 is in the other league, as I will place a bid on one this evening.

levis, but have your ever played a X50 for some time?
and have you have played any other workstation from korg?

keybed can be as you say, i have nothing to doubt about, but the difference is quite impressive. at least if you are used to piano or weighted/semi-weighted keybed

It's still a difference no matter how small. if somebody wants to glue weights to their x50 it will improve it. But that's if you already own an x50. Don't buy an x50 to glue weights on it.
