Grounding issues with SV-1?

Post by KorgSauceJaunt »

Hey guys, first post here. I've been experiencing some grounding issues I think with my SV-1 through my amp recently. It's producing a low hum that only occurs with my SV-1 and not any other keyboards I own. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and if they know how to go about fixing it. Maybe try just running it through DI? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

I get some hum when running my SV1 through a Bose L1 system, but it's at a low enough volume that I don't let it bother me -- the piano sound is much louder. My Kawai doesn't do this, so perhaps this is the one advantage to having a wall wart instead of an internal power supply... this happens even when I plug both into the same power strip, so I don't know what else can be done. Also, try turning off and on the amp simulation. Some of the hum might be coming from there, in which case I'd just consider it part of the "vintage" ambience....

I had this issue. Do you have the USB cord plugged into your computer at the same time? I did and when I unplugged it, the hum was gone completely!

I have no USB cord plugged in at all. Just a normal quater inch. At low volumes it's not noticeable, but with my band, it becomes unbearable.

Have you tried an AC ground adapter?

Is your amp connected to the same power socket as the SV-1?
Try a DI box with a ground lift switch.
If that fixes it, then it was a ground loop, and it's sorted.
If that doesn't fix it, then it could be a problem with the board. May need to take it back to the store.
