How to organise styles / sounds from different SETs etc?

Post by MuratE »

Apologies if this was asked before but I couldn't find a response and this is my very first post!

I have recently converted from Roland to Korg (Pa1xPro) and loving every second of it. But it has proven difficult to learn my way around the Korg system after using Roland keyboards for well over a decade.

My question is: I think I need to organise my keyboard; the styles, performances and sounds into some sort of logical and sensible manner. My main query is; I’ve got several SETs which I’d like to pick my favourite sounds and styles and put them all into one SET I can use. Some of the styles use sounds from the RAM so if I am saving a style I’d need to save the appropriate sounds (I assume?). So, how do I do all this, where do I start? Is there a program I could use on my PC to do all these organising?

Many thanks in advance:)

I think this is the way to do it.
1) Do a full backup before in case something goes wrong (do a full save of your current set).
2) Start with the set loaded that has most of your sounds/styles etc.
3) Menu, Load Tab, choose a set that you want to drill into but don't load it. Choose Open,Open (drill down to the elements you want) eg, Style, Specific Style, then finaly load this element but make sure you put the Style etc in an empty user location.
4) After doing this to all the elements you want then save it as a new set.
I'm no expert but I think this will work.
Very best,
John

Hi Reuben,
Many thanks for taking the time to write. I wish if there was a PC based software to do all these organising...

If you search these forums for XRM, you may find that this will help you. It is a free program for organising styles etc.
