Two questions as a new Kronos owner

Post by manu riga »

Hi people,

i have two question about my new Kronos 61 and i hope i get some answers here.

1) if you make a patch with by example: a polysix and your 2nd exi is a ms20: How can you route the sound of the polysix through that ms20?

2) what is the best way to use the Kronos as a multitimbral machine.
Do you go to seq mode, combi mode.? and how to setup so you do not lose the EFX of the patches you like. Can you copy them to the seq mode or combi mode?

thank you to give me some advice

I'd love to hear people's answers for question number two.

Setting up combis for multitimbrality from the responses I have gotten seems needlessly complicated -- just my opinion.

You can't route audio from one exi into another within a single program. You need a combi for this.

For using multitimbrality when playing live, a combi is more useful than the sequence mode. When working in combination with a DAW in the studio, seq mode is probably more useful, depending on your workflow and if you want to use the editor or not.

I don't think it's very complicated at all to set up a combi. Where does it go wrong for you?

Read this article: Korg M3: Using SEQ mode as a "super combi" for live performance and also thread: kronos as a multi-timbrel sound generator

Its not that its complicated, but korgs way of multitimbrality isnt the most simple one. A sound of a patch is made partially due of the fx.
If i say i use 5 patches.. I must manually copy all the efx processors and manually route them. I know you can copy the fx of a combi (at least on my tritons) but i would love to copy them from multiple patches into the twelve slots. Is this possible?

Thx for ur answers people

On the Kronos you can select "copy all used IFX" when you copy a sound into a program. As long as you don't run out of slots, it'll copy the right fx and do the routing for you. Obviously, this doesn't go for MFX or TFX but those tend to affect the sound much less and in a combi it's more useful to have them on something basic like verb, chorus or limiting.

It is a great machine and most people would say the biggest problem is finding enough time to explore it.

Welcome to the forum manu riga. I've had my Kronos 73 since September and I'm still asking questions. I figure i will for a long, long time! But it's worth it!
