You are amazing. I am excited at the potential. Great work!
Kronos 2 61, Wavestation A/D, Yamaha Genos and others.
lol... My Bad. I got confused and I'll explain why.....Pepperpotty wrote:Sharp - Which one did you order? You say Vertex but your link is to the Agility.
The one I ordered for the KRONOS is the SATA 3 Agility3 120GB.
Speed wise there's is absolutely no difference between the Vertex 3 and the Agility 3. They are absolutely identical.
I have a vertex 3 in my laptop here right now and it cost me twice what I just paid for the Agility 3.
The only difference between the Agility 3 and the Vertex 3 is the IOPS.
The Vertex 3 has 60,000 IOPS
The Agility 3 has 50,000 IOPS
However since, SynthKeyWizard wanted to buy a Vertex 2, I got my wires crossed in explaing my thinking on all this.
The Vertex 2 has an identical IOPS to the Agility 3 of 50,000 IOPS, but with the Vertex 2 being a native SATA 2 it would not be as fast as the Agility 3 running in SATA 2 mode.
So by going with the Agility 3 you get the same IOPS as Vertex 2 SATA 2 drive that SynthKeyWizard wanted, but because the Agility 3 is a SATA3 drive which will revert to SATA 2 mode on the KRONOS, it will max out the KRONOS SATA 2 Controller and so it's as fast as you get get the KRONOS to go.
So it is the OCZ Agility 3, 120Gb, SATA 3 with 50,000 IOPS I ordered.
Phew... my head hurts...lol...

why put a 120gb SSD in your Kronos if the sound bank falls within the standard 30gb ?? Do you have ways of getting other Samples? Seems like I seen INTEL in the Kronos Motherboard.. Is Korg selling us an OLD pc intergrated for $$$$$ ??? Heck we could buy a killer Laptop and hook it to the best Midi controller for alot less.. LOL
Without one you cant even install demo versions of all the EXs available at KORG let alone do much in the way of Hard Disk Recording.wwhy put a 120gb SSD in your Kronos if the sound bank falls within the standard 30gb ?? Do you have ways of getting other Samples?
Many people here including myself will also own quite a collection of AKAI Sample Libraries.

SATA 3 drives are backwards compatible with SATA 2. So any SATA 3 drive will work with the Intel mobo which is only SATA 2. The difference is that the SSD won't be able to give its full potential when it comes to read and write speed transfers. However, a SATA 3 SSD will still perform better than a SATA 2 drive because it will work at SATA 2 max speeds.
Still, there's nothing wrong with putting a SATA 2 SSD in your Kronos, especially if you get a good deal on one. That's the route I took. I got a Samsung 256 Gb series 470 (SATA 2) for only £135 with postage. The specs are better than the factory drive fitted, Although there might be slightly longer loading and writing times than with a 120 Gb SATA 3 drive, for me the much larger capacity was worth the trade off.

I can confirm that the OCZ Agility 3, 120Gb, SATA 3 works.

I said well you do realise that the pdf for 1.5 says about the memory upgrade and advises people to contact the official dealerships on how to go about this without invalidating warranty.
(This branch is listed in the Japan Korg web page as their official rep in Malaysia).
So until I told them that it was part of the service they were to provide as a official dealer they didn't know lol.
