Hello my friends!
I had 2 questions regarding creating a style which I have noticed throughout various korg pa arrangers. How is that when I record and create new styles there volume limit is low even though ALL levels(including event edit) are at 127. When I edit other styles they seem to be so loud. Is there a step I have been missing when I create the styles? Also my first hit when creating a style seems to always end up in the last measure of the style. When I event edit it to move it to the beginning it is off rhythm. So basically, when I start my beat it is missing the first hit, however as it loops it is on rhythm.
Any help is greatttly appreciated.
THANKSSS

Not a Pa owner, but some things are common to most Korgs so I'm gonna make an informed guess on this one.
Check velocity curves under the global menu -- some curves make it very hard to hit the max output (127), so if your hard playing style only hits a maximum volume of, say 110, and your normal is ~100 as limited by the velocity curve then your styles will reflect those volumes.
You want one that is either humped upward (so that higher volumes are hit with lower velocity) or perhaps even straightline maximum (100% all the time regardless of velocity, as true organ sounds would be).
You should be able to change the velocity curves just for recording purposes, changing back should not change any user style recorded at a higher velocity.

Re: Creating New Styles and Volume
It's a combination of Velocity and Expression values. If your velocity values are pretty similar to the factory styles and still you experience low output, then you gotta check the Expression data per track.amusik2007 wrote:Hello my friends!

Re-read your OP -- Triton (my instrument) has similar issues arising from the Gate and Velocity sections of the arpeggiator. There are wide variations is perceived volume of backing sequences even using the same arps, all of which are close to maximum volume (117 to 127). I think there may be a parallel feature on the Pa - maybe the expression value Assyrianpianist cited.
Are you building your user styles from zero (i.e., init style) or using some pre-set template? You might want to try "reverse engineering" by overwriting an existing (copied) style one layer at a time and seeing if that would preserve the settings used to produce louder-sounding tracks.
