Switch program during playback in set list mode? Can I?
So I'm using the Kronos for my keyboard sounds as well as the drum and bass backing tracks (imported waves to song mode, then saved song to set list). Everything is going smoothly, except I can't figure out a way to switch program sounds while in this mode.
T'would be pretty sweet to have different sounds for choruses and whatnot, right?
All I can figure out how to do is modify the one armed MIDI program from the song with the joysticks, ribbon, control, etc. Not good enough.
Thanks for all the help you guys, this forum is really speeding up the learning process. Love this beast!

Two ways; you can either program a program change so it will automatically switch the sound on the channel you're playing - but this won't let you swap out the IFX. The other way is to use setlist mode and put the same song in different slots with different active timbres. It'll continue playing while you switch between timbres.

Yes, if the reference song is the same one for seperate setlist entries it will continue playing. I just found out yesterday with help of another post in this forum.ashboe wrote:Would you explain this in a little more detail SanderXpander...I understood that the song would always revert back to measure 001 if you moved to the next position in a set list? If you are right, then this would solve a few problems for me too..
Put the programs you want to play along with the song for example on track 1-3 and channel 1, then move to the setlist and choose track 1 on the setlist menu. Go back to the sequencer mode. Choose for example track 4 - 7 for the other set of programs and put them to channel 2. Back to the setlist you choose track 4 and you will hear all intruments on channel 2.
Now it would be nice to know if there is any CC command to do that in the sequencer automatically, so I don't even need the setlist buttons to switch the set of programs during the play along of the sequencer song. Does anyone know?

Why not put the back tracks on your cellphone/iPod and use the Korg's inputs to play these tracks.
That way you have all freedom when using your programs, effects, etc ...
I know it can be difficult to include other devices if you might think Kronos should be able to do it...

It is a matter of work flow. I don't want to handle another device if the Kronos can do. By the way - my Triton Extreme can handle this a lot easier as it handles tracks individually, even though the tracks are on the same MIDI channel.mathieumaes wrote:Why not put the back tracks on your cellphone/iPod and use the Korg's inputs to play these tracks.

When I practice I use the locate function to practice on difficult parts. My iPod doesn't have this function. Of course, I can use my PC - when I'm at home - but I prefer to do it with the sequencer.

I have this cool app for my iPod called "iLift" which is great for learning a song.
- change tempo without affecting pitch
- Transpose up/down without affecting tempo
- Finetune (some old songs are out of key)
- Loop function

Joonthekeys, thanks! Worked like a charm, easy too, just never would have thought of trying that.
Yeah, the whole point of using the Kronos for backing tracks not only simplifies the process (no iPod/phone/computer to rely on as well), but I've got my backing tracks at 24bit WAV for live, exported directly form my DAW.
Now if I can just figure out how to get the "songs," backing tracks and set list to autoload when I turn the Kronos on, I'll be set. Thought I told it to do so through the Global section... but, didn't work, still had to go load those after turning on. (The set list looked right, but the files/sounds weren't there).
Thanks guys!

That sounds cool too. I still prefer doing the MIDI directly from the sequencer, but it may be something for our band practice, in order to check how close or how far off we are from the original song (although we do not always want an exact copy). Do you know if this applet can be applied on an old G3 iPod and if so - where could I get it?mathieumaes wrote:I have this cool app for my iPod called "iLift" which is great for learning a song.
