PA3X Internal Clock

It is a long trip for me to travel to a repair facility. I would like to have a clock battery with me just in case the repair shop doesn't have one. Don't want to make two trips.

Can someone post the battery type so that I can buy a battery to take with me? Buying an unneeded battery is a lot cheaper than the cost of a second trip.

Same here mate. I live in Bahrain.
Got mine from UAE (Dubai).

Still i couldn't figure out how to send the ram battery to and fro.
Because fedex won't accecpt NIMH nickel metal battery since it is under the category Dangerous Goods.

Now added to that clock battery is not user replaceable.
Which never worked for me since i bought it.
So i have to take the Pa3x to Dubai now.

Does this means that all with clock problem (there seems to be many) needs to send the KB to the repairsenter to get the clock back up battery changed??. The clock in my KB never worked right, but I thought that a new sample battery would fix it, as we know it didn't. Looks like Korg was not lucky with the battery supplier this time

I found a service center on the second try that would change the clock battery while I waited. It took him about 20 minutes to change the little CR2032 lithium battery. That was about three weeks ago. The clock is working fine now.

hello all , you probably don't have your PA3x any more or have graduated to a PA4X , however it is 12th JANUARY 2021 and the korg clock problem still exists you can't fault Korg for consistency

Korg manual says:-
WARNING – Date/time Lithium button cell battery inside. Danger of explosion
if battery is incorrectly replaced. The internal date/time Lithium button
cell battery is not user replaceable. The unit should be returned to a Korg
Authorized Service Center when the date/time Lithium button cell battery
needs replacing.

It is actually replaceable but at your own risk - I replaced mine - quite easy with patience.

Here are my notes and some pictures (PA3X-76)
PLEASE backup everything before doing this.
This is entirely at your own risk but it is not difficult.
Buy a CR2032 battery first.

This will fix the date/time clock problem but not fix the RAM backup (different battery pack) - mine expired and I didn't bother replacing it - simply put up with the slower boot time.

hi , very helpful article , clearly making it a factory job to replace a common £1.50 lithium battery is a nonsense , has anyone here returned their keyboard to korg for the 2032 battery replacement ? how much did it cost , with carriage charges I would think it could be £100+ and if you get stopped by plod during lockdown taking it yourself I doubt " keyboard battery replacement " is an essential journey 5 BILLION computers have the same battery as well as many more watches clocks car remotes etc etc . Fantastic keyboard though I would love to meet the computer/musician genius that invented them.
