Polysix bend range :D
Meant to post this a LONG time ago >.> but here it is now.
Well the polysix on the Kronos is pretty awesome but there is 1 thing I cant seem to find a workaround for. In the polysix you can only set the pitch bend to 1 number and that number is applied to both pitch bend up and pitch bend down. What Im trying to do is have it pitch bend up 2 and pitch bend down 12....
Anyone from Korg have any input? or of course anyone else for that matter.
thanks..

From Parameter Guide:
BEND RANGE [0.00...12.00]
This sets the maximum amount of pitch bend up and down, in semitones and cents, as controlled by JS X. To use another AMS source for pitch bend, modulate the TRANSPOSE or TUNE parameters instead.
BEND RANGE is not modulatable via AMS.
Assign the TRANSPOSE to ribbon and set there the -12 range, for example.

Re: Polysix bend range =(
IIRC, the original PolySix worked that way, and so does the Legacy PolySix VSTi.plisken wrote:Meant to post this a LONG time ago >.> but here it is now.

From what I've seen, most vintage synth emulations do the same thing. All of Arturia's V Collection plug-ins, as well as Korg's Legacy Collection, require that the bend range be set with identical values for up and down.
The ability to set separate values for upward and downward bending is more of a 21st-century synth architecture thing. I suspect that the idea is that if you want that sort of functionality, you'll use AL-1 or MOD-7. This keeps the PolySix-EX more "true" to the architecture of the original, while also keeping it simple for people who want a subtractive Kronos engine that doesn't have all those options.

I don't want to send you on a "wild goose chase" (since I'm not actually going to try to figure it out myself) but you might be able to accomplish this by running the Pitch bend through one of the AMS Mixer functions/tables.firstlovedan wrote:I programmed a hendrix guitar and needed the joystick to go up +2 when pushing to the right, and it to fall -36 when pushed to the left to emulate hendrix's dive bomb whammy bar licks. Both up and down have individual settings.

I thought the same when I tried however there's no separate parameters for js - x and js + x . Just js-x.StephenKay wrote:I don't want to send you on a "wild goose chase" (since I'm not actually going to try to figure it out myself) but you might be able to accomplish this by running the Pitch bend through one of the AMS Mixer functions/tables.firstlovedan wrote:I programmed a hendrix guitar and needed the joystick to go up +2 when pushing to the right, and it to fall -36 when pushed to the left to emulate hendrix's dive bomb whammy bar licks. Yeah, but (again, I should try this but no time right now) isn't there some way to weight/offset the curve with an AMS mixer such that the positive direction does less than the negative direction? At least, that was my thought....robbinhood wrote:I thought the same when I tried however there's no separate parameters for js - x and js + x . I think we can use 2 AMS Mixers to achieve this. This is the general idea:
- The Polysix configures the pitch bend (JSX) to go from -12 semitones to +12 semitones.
- We use the Offset AMS Mixer to create a "reduced" pitch bend, which goes to 1/6 of the values, meaning from -2 to +2 semitones.
- We use the Gate AMS Mixer to select which pitch bend version to use. The control is JSX (the pitch bend itself) and the threshold value is 0. Below zero, we output the untouched JSX (the pitch bend itself). At and above zero, we output the "reduced pitch bend", which is the Offset AMS mixer explained on the last point.
I don't have the Kronos in front of me, but I think this must work

Marpabl you got it. I was able to get it working and even make a simple vid to show the settings so others can copy.

What?plisken wrote:hmm it seems the value being 22 is tided to the settings you put on the transpose page. Not sure that 22 is perfectly 2 semi tones but its pretty close.

Worked fine for me.... I even used a tuner and turned analog off.... Worked like a charm. Did you get it working?
