Hi, new on this forum I would like to know if there's any cards I could insert in my wavestation sr to get all factory sounds.
I tried many times with the midi file found on the korg website but I can't get the wavestation correct this way, I can get only correct sounds but not all the banks (one is copy) or all the banks are there but the sounds don't match...
so a external card to restore all the things like it should would be great!
Maybe it would be a PROG DATA card? but I don't know which one.
Thanks for your help! best regards.
Wavestation SR, problem reloading factory sounds, any cards?

My recollection is that the voices with the exception of the user bank were all ROM in the SR. Are the ROM banks corrupted? That might be a battery issue, especially given the age of the machine.
ROM is not supposed to be volatile at all - so replacing the battery might bring everything back to "factory". If that doesn't work, I'd take it to a service center and have a tech look it over - corrupted ROM data could be a hardware (bad chip) issue resulting from a power surge or physical shock.
The USER bank was a copy of one of the other banks (Bank 1?) and there may be a card to restore that SR Preload. As to the other banks (ROM), their voices were compiled from the Wavestation's Library which was released on a dozen or so PCM cards for use in the original WS/WS-EX.
So I don't think there's a single data card for the SR (it's possible there may be a series of cards provided to Korg Authorized Service Centers).

data cards are compatible with the original wavestation
but pcm cards are not as the sr uses 2mb pcmcia type 2 cards
the roms banks are extra in the sr as you only get 1 on the wavestation and ex and ad there are 8 on the sr the original one as the others and 7 extra with data from the rom card collection from korg giving you loads of access to loads of patches and performance
also there is an extra ram bank ram bank 3
for storing your own personal patches and performances and wave sequences
change the battery give it a hardware reset and it should be good to go
when putting the file from korg into your machine it will rewite the patches to the 3 ram banks
