But to my big surprise, the CP80 on this shortboard sounds a lot better than the one on the Kronos. My problem with the CP80 of the Kronos is that it doesn't "sing". Very briefly after the attack, the sound is "dead".

But if EMU with this lower end keyboard manages to include a decent CP80, why would Korg not be able to do so? Is there a deal with Karo or something?
The "Electric Grand" patch on my Fantom XR is a brilliant CP70 sound for gigging.

This is slightly off topic, but I've gotta ask:

Are there any youtube examples or songs that prominently show a CP-70/80 in all it's glory? Because every workstation version I've played is so wimpy I couldn't possibly seeing someone wanting to use this as an "instrument". I just can't see why you'd want one over a rhodes or wurly...

Try this one. A little old, but a good example.

RMI?

Post by trstack »

Not an exact match but, I-A126 Hybrid E. Piano 2 has some RMI like qualities.
We must be old if we even know what an RMI was...

As much as I like Karo's Moog Taurus samples, his CP electric piano library is not on the same level IMHO: in my ears it sounds nowhere near the real thing.
Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5

try another sample library?? however in this case it's best that you sample your own... it's hard, but it's worth it i think..

Anyone knows these CP80 samples?

http://korgpatches.com/patches/kronos/ (see below in the list).

Is there an easy way to create a multisample / program based on these "loose" samples?

It's a hell of a job to assign every sample one by one, even more so with four different layers.

I use a Yamaha CP 5 and it's great.
Very dynamic and subtle.
And you have keys of wood with a very nice touch that I use to control the Kronos´s pianos. Although it is an expensive solution... but... a pure joy !
