Thoraldus wrote: A "SET" is nothing but a directory of directories of files. It's just the method KORG uses to organize resources for the PA keyboards. When KORG saves a SET they will use standardized file names but you don't HAVE to.
I know all that, but you can't do this on a computer with, say, the commonly used Windows Explorer.
THEN you nee a tool like PA Librarian to see the files WITHIN a .set file.

(Which Korg doesn't provide, but I rested that case...)

How to find out what's in a .set ?

Post by Charley Brown »

Pa1x vs Pa2x

I have a Pa1x and I encountered the same problem. I did not want to down load an unfamiliar .set without first listening and knowing what was on it. I eventially found that I could listen to the styles by saving the .set to a Floppy disk (using my PC) and then use the "Direct FD"button on the pa1x to access them. I could then decide if I wanted to down load any of them on to the Hard Drive.

The Pa2x does not have this button. It seems to have an "unplug" button instead of the "Direct FD" function seen on the Pa1x.

Can the USB function on the Pa2x be used as an external drive so that you can review a .set before actually down loading any or all of it's styles?
Long live the Pa1x

Like it or not, Wavextractor Pro is your only chance at the moment. Nobody knows what it is yet, but we're going to find out soon. If you still feel this is not how things should be done, or you should wait till you get a free software, then, you're really out of luck.
Sam I disagree with you over here about the Wavextractor pro, you can only reorganise your styles and rename them, who is intrestend in reorganizing styles? I'd rather prefer to reorganise my performances en sounds and build up new sets with mixed soundbanks en performances.

So wavextractor is nothing worth!

I am! And I don't believe I am the only one on the globe.

The "PA Librarian" helped me a lot!
Great little piece of software.
