Quick question, Virtual Triton?

Post by zukskywalker »

Is there a Triton vst, or some Korg host that will load/play the Triton files?(which are right here in KF)

There's Legacy and all the other stuff but is there any virtual Triton?

(What I really want is a virtual X50 but since it's based on Triton I thought I'd ask here first.)

Afaik, there is no Triton VST.

"Zuk... I am your... well let's just say I knew your mom a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... at college."

(sorry)

Triton voices are based on OASYS, Korg's try at a unified field theory for synthesis systems that would roll up every technology available into one platform. ROMpler? Does that! Sampling? Does that! Sequencing, pattern play, drum machine, real time interactive? Does that!

About the closest thing to a software virtual instrument that you're asking about was a PC sound card that was released some years back (no longer available) that was Korg's attempt to get OASYS out of the theoretical realm and into reality. Not software per se, but the hardware that much of the current software/hardware architecture derives from.

OASYS technology has trickled out as hardware over the course of the last decade or so with the release of the various Triton boards, KARMA capable instruments, and the OASYS keyboard (which still lacked some of the theoretical features OASYS-prime was shooting for) and now Kronos, which incorporates even more OASYS theory, and goes on to include VA modeling -- KLC plus DX type FM into its architecture? Does that!

It's anybody's guess as to whether something is in the works for a virtual Triton - I would think that the samples for the X-series might be included somewhere along the line. But I personally wouldn't think there was enough demand to make a "just-X" program. M1 there was a demand for, as there was for Wavestation, an the old analog monsters. If Korg released PA-series accompaniment software I'd buy it in a heartbeat. X?, not so much - I feel like that was just one of the evolutionary links between M-1 and Triton.

Of those links I think the best candidate for virtualization might be the O-series - it had a pretty comprehensive set of samples but only scratched the surface of what it's wave-shaping parameters could do. The more developed GUI inherent in a virtual version might be able to make wave-shaping far more musically useful (something vectorish like Alchemy, maybe) than it was in the hardware release.

I'm wishing for a Triton vst as well. About a year ago I sent an email to them about it. They said they would pass it to the appropriate department.

I bought all of the Korg virtual synths and absolutely love them. Also have a Triton rack here as well, which I also love, but it would get much more use as a VST.

Maybe someone that knows how could set up a poll asking "Would you buy a VST version of the Korg Triton" and we could spread the word at KVR, Harmony Central, and the like. Then send the link to Korg to show them how many people are interested.

Not that the Triton would be the only one on the wishlist, but I'm sure it would get a lot of interest.

Good morning fellow warriors.
I have gone completely ga-ga over software replacing a@@ heavy hardware and I am on a mission.
It started with gravity bending Hammond/Leslie replacement. (as the gods smiled down on us and gave us B4 and later vst's)
Then went ye ol' DX7 taken by FM7 and then FM8, oh happy day.
Dawn broke and the M1 yielded to KLC, victory is near or so we thought until the big guns fell silent.
Now, MOSS(Prophecy), OASYS(Triton/X50,etc.)and KAOSS(KP3) sit like ladies in waiting.

KORG...Just Do It! Do it Now! Either vst or IOS we don't care.

(When I bought an X50 I thought that the accompanying software was the X50 vst...silly me!)
