Good morning fellow gear heads!
Just wondered if anyone knew off the top of their heads how easy it would be to patch a master 88 key controller through the Triton, setting patches up so that I can use different sounds for the controller and the triton keyboard at the same time. Ie set a piano up for the 88 key controller, and have different split/layered patches running on the Triton keyboard... Seems like it should be easy... maybe set midi in to play on a specific MIDI channel or something??
Many thanks,
Gareth

Yes you can. use combination mode. set triton to midi channel 1 set other keyboard to midi channel 2. Set program in combi to midi channel 1. Set second prog to channel 2. Then each keyboard will play respective program.

To have the two playing together requires no reseting, just MIDI from A out to B in and A would control both - play A and you get A/B (always), B keys would not control A.
I think Stuart's solution sets patch change and notes for a portion of a combi (track), range played depends on the combi set-up - assigning tracks to play INT (internal) and EXT (external) should do about the same thing.
Variations in layering or separating A and B keyboards from each other get to be a chjallenge; for instance, how to send just a patch change (no notes) to B, how not to hear B once that hook-up has been made, whether controllers like sustain or mod wheel effect both keyboards.
I recommend getting a searchable .pdf version of the manual - several simple MIDI set up scenarios are outlined there. Topics are easier to find in the .pdf version and its a quick way to see where information is when it might be (by organizational necessity) spread out over several sections.
