something i may mention if they start "acting up" with meCoreyMast wrote:If it is affecting the tuning I would argue that it is not playable and was sold under false advertisement. Best of luck!
As for "I never buy a display model", well, in UK, Display models (well some ive seen) are just that:, on display to "see" (and maybe have a tinkle perhaps). whereas "DEMO"/B-stock etc are Boards that have been owned, played (a-lot etc)
MY OASYS was a Display model (from the same shop (very large store BTW - No mom/pop little store here! and the OASYS Was (and still is*) in immaculate condition, so i had a bit of "faith" in them.
* then theres the Courier of course

And that's exactly my point. You might get a good one, you might get a dud. There's really no way to know. Even if it's just for "looking at" or a little "tinkle," demos are often left on for many hours per day. The potential for heat damage and or other issues that won't show up immediately after purchase make the gamble simply not worth it to me. You're mileage may vary.AnthonyB wrote:something i may mention if they start "acting up" with meCoreyMast wrote:If it is affecting the tuning I would argue that it is not playable and was sold under false advertisement. Hehe

I bought an korg 01w fd once and fortunately i opened the box before leaving the store. It had a lot of scratches etc so i got quite angry at the salesperson of course so he gave me a new one instead

In this case i wonder what the previous owner did to his/her kronos since its so beat up (??)
Hi Anthony,
sorry to hear this. I don´t no the british law but in Germany it would be like this:
A display model only means, that it was in the store and is not brandnew, not more not less. If there are any issues with the keyboard they have to tell you before you buy it, otherwise you have the full warrenty and right to receive a full functional model. The seller has the obligation to tell about every flaw that he knows otherwise it would be a deception and you can get your money back.
In your case this issue has nothing to do with optical things it is a flaw and not acceptable at all. Only when you knew before buyying then you have to accept it. You wouldn´t have the right to get a brandnew, but either your money back or have the Kronos repaired by the seller.
Maybe someone in Britain can tell abot the british law.
hope that helps a little
best regards

Uk law varies slightly between England and Scotland.
Any online purchase, the buyer has the right to return within 7 days of delivery (some things are exempt such as specially made items, perishable items, software that's had it's seal broken etc) for any reason for a full refund including delivery charges.
Goods have to be as described.
If an item is reduced due to a defect and you are made aware of that defect, you cannot then return the item on the basis of that defect. Sounds obvious, but in many cases, the shop assistant will tell you that you cannot bring the item back at all – which is misleading. What if you buy a shirt at reduced price because of a missing button. However when you get home you discover a huge hole in the seam which you were not informed of. You know you cannot return the item due to the missing button, but you are free to return it on the basis of the dodgy seam.

I was specifically told it was "like new" and boxed - a "diplay model" (not a demo). I'm wondering whether they keep an eye on these display models you know, with being turned on all day (maybe they have better things to do)?. Also, the person on the phone i was dealing with "probably" didn't see the keyboard at all, but just asked someone to "box it" for me, as it was a "Sales Support Manager" on the phone i was dealiong with.

I wasn't told it was a "defect", but AFTER I rang up to mention it to them, i was told "Well, you have to understand that it is a display model, so it won't be in "as-new" condition. I was then asked to take a photo of it and mail it to them. They called me back, and said "box it, and we will collect next week to have it repaired"""Ojustaboo wrote:

Now then, heres the problem i have. I don't want something "repaired" that was "assumed" in VGC, because it looks like its been severly knocked about (could have been in Courier/Transit though, but would a mark like that happen in transit?, since it arrived PERFECTLY packaged?), And if they went ahead and repaired it, or sent it to Korg, I would be worried that other parts (not just Ribbon and Joystick area) would be problematic in the future. Its a Board i was hoping to have for many years to come. I wouldn't want to keep worrying about issue after issue - i wanna get playing!

I've purchased refurbs, b stock, and open box items in the past. However, a display model is a lot different. Display models are at the mercy of anyone and everyone coming into a store. Kids and even toddlers are banging things on them, heavily intoxicated customers may vomit on them, careless people spill drinks and/or drop food/crumbs between the keys. You just don't get that with refurbs, b stock or open box items. And that awful (deep) scratch on the ribbon controller, and the other controller not centering itself is basically telling you that its internal DNA is completely messed up. Get rid of it and get your money back!
