LCD screen alternatives
LCD on Trinity seems to fail faster than other parts, and there are no more replacement parts, I am being informed. Are there some alternatives, even the non-touch screens, that can be used instead?

The touch element of the screen is an essential part of controlling the synth. You wont be able to select or edit anything without it.

update on screen purchase
IMPORTANT NOTE: if your screen has gone black, theres a chance its the 'pico' fuse on the circuit behind the screen and is easily fixed. small green resistor looking fuse on the circuit board the screen plugs in to.
UPDATE: i just ordered a screen from the link in this post. i called first and they were in stock. of course it doesnt include the circuit board behind the screen so take extra care when handling that. this is as of october 7th
UPDATE: i got the new screen installed. very important!!!!...... it comes with an adapter to go from the skinny ribbon on the grid, to the stock size ribbon and a new bright screen. looks fantastic.
they suck putting them back together. its the order thats hard to remember. THE LONG BAR GOES BACK IN FIRST, AND LEAVE THE SIDES ON!!!!!! and make sure you use the short screws for the bottom of the screen hood. and before taking out the support bars, may i suggest (hehe) using a marker where the support bars are mounted together, and where the power supply line up on the main support. also separate the headphone jack from the joystick assembly. make sure every cable is plugged in to the screen before you proceed. There are a couple of machine screws. a few short ones for the screen mainly, and 2 long ones that mount the joystick/ribbon panel. MAKE SURE YOUR SCREEN IS COMPLETELY FLUSH!!!!! lol yes i did.
thank you Timo for posting that one. it's a winner!!!!!

That guy is either financially desperate or dead from the neck up. I'm bettin' on the latter.Spacecowboy wrote: did you saee the moron selling the parts from his proX? 49.99 for a knob? and 99 bucks for a cracked screen? what a jerk. then he says the keyboard works fine without a screen or any buttons as a midi controller. he's obviously brain dead and a cheat to boot. riduculous when people try to make more money on the parts. but this guy is a plain liar saying his trinity works great without a screen or buttons. what if you have to refresh the OS?

Have you tryed on ebay.. I find for my broken bought one Trinity LCD and it works.. I payed, if I remeber correctly about 120$
try to find exactly what model was and you will find it for sure.
I think that this is Panasonic or Sharp model of LCD.

Korg Kronos 2 73, Korg Triton Extreme 61, Korg Trinity, Roland D-50, Yamaha DX7 IIFD, Korg T2EX
Same Problem
I got a Trinity Plus with broken Touch panel and empty battery.
The Battery is now changed and the broken touch panel removed (LCD is already fine) and i have updated to latest? OS (2.41 i think).
I have tryed Trinitro and Midiquest XL to "push" the preload.pcg to the Trinity, but the Trinity dont answer.
But i can "play" the keyboard from PC and i can receive played notes (and controller-movings) from the Trinitry on the PC - so the midi connection is fine.
I am afraid, that i must change in the "Global" screen to "Local COntrol = Off" to send the PCGs to the trinitry.
Can soemone tell me, that this is correct?
And do someone have an idea, if i can send with "midimonitor" or equal software a special Midi message to set "Local control" = Off from pc?
Or does someone have successful tried to simulate the touch panel klicking with some resistors on the touch panel connections?
I think, in a month or so i can put in a new touch panel but i want to hear the trinity NOW (and not only a blank piano).
Yes, i can give you (with broken touch) a little bit of hope.
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Wholesal ... 93269.html must be the right one (if made 1:1 like the old original touch panel)
I have paid for one of this last sunday and wait for arriving (but maybe takes a lot of shipping time)
ONE man in the web have found out, that the LCD is exchangeable by a "SP14Q001-X" from HITACHI.
I am not 100% shure, if this is correct, the pics looks not identical, but good.
And be aware, that its saled with and without the touch panel!
Some pics tells me, that its not exchangeable 1:1, but i am shure that if you can extract the display unit from the Trinity (a pain in the ass
) you are able to implement the SP14Q001-X .
Regards,
Matthias

My Trinity is fixed
The touch panel from the link of my first post is working, but the 8-wire-ribbon was a little problem.
I have thinked about soldiering or glueing (with "wire glue") eight single wires to the ribbon, but i have not done this.
I have looked around a longer time for getting a adapter/holder, where i can place the ribbon in.
And i have found one in an older hifi device from the 90´th. it was roundabout 20 pins long, so i have shortened it to 8 pins.
Then i have soldered 8 wires from this holder to the holder on the pcb on the display unit. First it has worked only a little bit (only part of the touch was working) because i have "mirrored" the wires.
After looking again i found this issue, resoldered and now its working fine.
And be aware: the ribbon connections on the replacement touch are connected straight forward, but on the original touch panel 2 connections are crossed!!!
Wait for putting the defective original to waste bin until the replacement is working!

Re: My Trinity is fixed
I have the same problem with mine. I ordered the touch screen but it was direct wired so that wires 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 go direct.
Korg wiring require rerouting so that 1 - 8 become 4 ,1,2,3,5,6,7,8 working left to right.
Any advice as to best work around will be appreciated!
